This was taken a few months ago, it's another photo of La Basilica di San Francesco. We are on a little seating area directly in front on it. Behind us, across the road, is a gelateria and this is the day I found out they had peanut butter ice-cream - hiiiiighly recommend it.

Second door of the day and second door from La Basilica di San Francesco in Bologna. (If you want more of the history check out the first door!) I also mentioned previously that there were three doors in the front façade, I didn't take a photo of the third - because it was really boring.
Funny thing to point out - the cyclist came right up to the door, peeked in (still on bicycle), nodded, shrugged and then cycled away. I guess this place wasn't... his... jamb...

Knock, Knock, Knockin' On Heaven's Door for #doorsday This is one of the three main doors to the Basilica di San Francesco. Bernard of Quintavalle, one of the first Franciscans, had settled here in 1211 but it was after 1222 when Saint Francis of Assisi came and the city got interested in what Francis was doing, Pope Gregory IX gave the Franciscans the land that the current square and Basilica occupy!
We don't know who the architect of the Basilica was but we do know it started in 1236 and finished in 1263. The outside has a Romanesque Facade while the inside has been described as "One of the best examples of French Gothic architecture in Italy".
I was just shocked it was open - because I never see it open. I looked online for the timetable and the hours are reasonable but I am casting doubt that I just happen to pass by it always in the same two hour window it's closed in for the last ten years.

The unique Arashiyama temple Otagi Nembutsuji (愛宕念仏寺) deep in a canyon in northwest Kyōto has had a long and complicated history, but its distinctiveness today stems from the 20th Century when a head priest commissioned the carving of over a thousand stone rakan (羅漢, based on arhats, adept disciples of the Buddha). Each statue is unique, unlike the stereotype of Asians, and some are really funny. The moss in this shady side of the mountain also adds to their character, sometimes like hair.

)The Celestines were a Roman Catholic monastic order founded in 1244. They were invited to come to Bologna in 1368 by nobleman Antonio Di Ubaldino Galluzzi. The church had pretty extensive work done to it during the 16th century and has remained pretty much the the same all these years later.
The Celestines are no longer around and there has been some changes in the function of the church over the years. At one point it was part of the school for engineering. Today it houses state archives and they still hold masses and stuff. (I'm pretty sure - there was a mass timetable on the door)

A bit geeky, I know, but I love this old stone wall in the Yorkhill area of Glasgow. I've got no idea of its age, but it leads down to the former Bishop's Mill, on the banks of the River Kelvin, which was built in 1839.

The pieces the local masons produce and the work remaining at Noguchi's atelier aren't vastly different—he was clearly working within an established tradition, though taking its craft and materials in different directions. But all of it, his and his neighbors' work, is beautiful in its own way and a credit to the labor that produces it
Fun fact: I got a new idea for a series when we wandered around the National Museum of Ireland (Archaeology).
Another fun fact: At least one of these photos serves as inspiration for things within that series.
