#Police in #Norfolk are using #plainclothes officers to catch #drivers using #MobilePhones at the wheel (a traffic violation in #UK) following a number of serious #collisions caused drivers who were distracted by these devices (many were even in modern #Bluetooth capable cars, but were likely using the device for some text/photo based app rather than a traditional phone call) #RoadSafety

🔴 People everywhere are head down, lost in the oblivion of infinite scroll. Just stop and let the moment breathe

“As much as I want to blame Silicon Valley for everything, the best I can accuse the tech industry of is building a profit-hungry machine exploiting the very human difficulty of being alone with one’s thoughts. Which is still pretty bad, sure, but let’s be clear: chronic inattention predates the internet.”

I'm looking at possibly replacing my Android mobile phone - it's crawling along despite removing a load of apps and stored photos - it's all very confusing (and expensive).

It's only 2 years old but the 4gb memory seems to be the issue. I'd like to stick with an SD card slot but that severely restricts my choice (I'll just have to trim my music collection down!).

Sigh

The unstoppable rise of phone theft

Snatch thefts of mobile phones soared by 150% in the last year, with victims left unable to work, use their bank, travel or use their diaries.

Why are police finding it so hard to stop?

The image shows a collection of three Nokia mobile phones.
From left to right, the first phone appears to be an older model with physical buttons and a small screen.
The middle one is a classic brick-style cellphone.
The third one on the right is a more modern model with digital buttons and a larger screen.
