** URGENT MUTUAL AID **

$105/225

Hello all! It's your friendly neighborhood mod Glitch, and I am in need of some help.

I am a trans nonbinary disabled neurodivergent individual who is unable to work and I'm still trying to get disability and have not had any luck.

I am in need of help with funds for cat food/cat litter, personal care and hygiene items (including caring for an injured big toe), and a couple of bills that I need to take care of. Help is greatly appreciated. Please boost!

I cough until I can't breathe, every single day, multiple times a day. It leaves me exhausted all day long. It keeps me up at night pretty often, too. Fatigue, brain fog, complete lack of energy.

And all I can think about is how that asshole office worker at the doctor's office belittled me for asking the doctor to sign off that I needed to miss work for what she arbitrarily decided was "just" a cough.

They are literally costing me thousands of dollars in short-term disability, between that office worker's prejudice and the doctor's complete failure to document the full range of symptoms I've complained about every single time I've visited for the last 2 months. It's money I don't have. My bank account is completely empty. I'm begging strangers to feed my kids.

I'm left paranoid to ever trust a doctor again. And I'm *furious*.

Last week, I went to Washington DC for a family vacation. A nice night out with my wife was ruined when an #Uber driver refused my seeing eye dog. We had to argue with the driver, get out, wait ten minutes for another ride, file a report, and speak with a case agent. In the end, Uber only refunded my ride and closed the case without telling me the outcome of my complaint. This is my second #GuideDog denial by Uber drivers. #Discrimination #ADA #Accessibility #Disability #ServiceDog

“You don’t have to wear a mask here”

Ever since hospitals dropped mandates, healthcare workers have been pressuring patients to remove their mask.

They say it’s not needed, it’s safe, “you won’t get covid here”

I watched this happen in a high risk cardiac clinic recently

I was wearing my N99 like I always do, and wasn’t willing to take it off.

I’m used to the questions, eye rolls and stares. I’m confident enough to tell them that my mask won’t be removed for any reason.

But what about those who aren’t as informed?

An elderly woman entered the clinic just after me.

She was wearing the hospital provided surgical mask.

She was trying to protect herself.

They told her “you don’t need that”. She looked confused. Why would the hospital provide them if they weren’t needed?

She said “I don’t mind wearing it” and the healthcare worker refused to drop it.

Told her that it wasn’t necessary and she should remove it.

So she did.

It broke my heart to watch.

This person clearly didn’t want to get sick. She was clearly in a vulnerable group. She was trying to do the right thing.

But she trusted the healthcare worker because they’re supposed to be the experts.

They’re supposed to care about our health.

They’re supposed to protect us

I think of her whenever I see a healthcare worker mocking maskers on social media.

Their anger and vitriol towards patients who mask left me wondering how many times they’ve convinced someone to go without protection.

How many times have they been the reason someone got sick?

A doctor willing to post something like that has given up on even the appearance of caring for their patients.

A good doctor would be encouraging respirator use, not mocking those taking precautions.

This is why we still see so much death and disability from COVID.

Because even those who 100% should know better have decided that the lives of their patients mean less than their own personal comfort.

They’ve decided some death & disability is “acceptable”

It’s not. We can’t accept this as the norm. We shouldn’t be infected in the place we’re forced to go to access care.

Healthcare workers should be leaders. They should be demonstrating how to avoid infection.

They should strive to keep their patients safe.

Clean air and respirators are not a big ask in healthcare settings.

Let’s save lives.

theconversation.com/labour-is-. The people who think it's "too easy" to claim #disability #benefits should try doing it. I got turned down twice for PIP, & my experience is common. You can be terminally ill & get refused PIP, & the Government wants to make it harder to claim the benefit, even though they admit that spending on working age benefits remains at 5% of GDP, in spite of all their lying propaganda!

I don't doubt Jill thinks she is the voice of reason.

It's terrifying to me that people have such beliefs in the face of no evidence other than what is fundamentally 'gossip' (nonsense on social media or the soundbites of fascists...)

GRRR...

Meantime, a vulnerable family member is terrified of the pervading atmosphere and what potentially lies ahead.

Now that Keir Starmer seem to be offering concessions to the disability cut rebels (although they might be wise to see the shape they finally take early next week), those Stramer-loyalist who stood up to defined the cuts, might be wondering whether they should do that again.... they're being made to look pretty foolish (and, of course, callous).

Overall the entire affair (disability cuts, rebellion, late/grudging concessions) has been a massive unforced error....

I can only think that among
'the... 29% say it is “too easy” to claim disability benefit'
they have never had a family member need support, or made a claim themselves. Either that or they are a sociopath.

Those of us who have supported someone in their struggle to survive know it is far from easy. It is a battle. It is exhausting, mentally draining.
