As the post explains this is one of my favourite classes of vulnerability, using characters that are old and sometimes forgotten.

#ASCII was a mistake: It could not even encode all the languages spoken in the USA. This mistake lasted for 19, maybe for years; depending on weither you consider ISO/IEC 8859 or #Unicode a solution.

Anyway: Unicode exists for 34 years now.

Demanding compatibility with a short lived mistake, while proper solutions exists for min. 34 years, has nothing to do with technical debt or compatibility. Demanding it is agenda. It is #Xenophobia that propagates superiority of White English speaking men.

I finally cracked the problem with gaps between characters.

Turns out any characters in columns C and D are rendered as "graphics" (without a gap) and all others as text (with 1px space between each).

After reorganizing my sprites so logo and UI occupies those columns make them work on any EGA/VGA text mode!

This is some black magic knowledge ;)
