Voy a hacer mi #presentacion para las nuevas personas que ingresan en esta ola migratoria. Me llamo Santiago, estoy en mastodon desde abril de 2017 cuando iniciamos con @gabriel y otros compas, esta instancia de Mastodon cuando recién la plataforma iba por la versión 1.3.1, o sea que vimos nacer el fediverso, literalmente hablando. Soy astrónomo haciendo un posgrado en cometas y trabajo en la Universidad de la República sede CURE Rocha. Milito el software libre desde principios de los 2000 y las redes libres desde las revelaciones de Snowden en 2013 lo cual me llevó a crear el proyecto de un servidor #autogestionado Undernet Uruguay del cual Mastodon.uy es uno de los proyectos (https://undernet.uy). Antes de Mastodon había otras redes libres como GNU-Social, Diaspora y Friendica, las cuales siguen existiendo aún, claro. Este año el proyecto #Undernet #Uruguay cumple 10 años y nuestra instancia de Mastodon cumple 8 años, una de las más antiguas del fediverso y la primera alojada en suelo uruguayo y quiza latinoamericano alojando muchos uruguayos y argentinos en aquel momento inicial hasta el nacimiento de otras instancias vecinas como rebel.ar. Vimos llegar y partir a mucha gente. El mensaje es este: Apropiense del espacio, quieranlo, rieguenlo como una plantita, uno se enamora de este lugar. Donen a los admins de sus instancias porque es la única forma de que este espacio permanezca nuestro. Dvorak wrote a book called "Dvorak Predicts". I sat & read it in a Barnes & Noble. I was only 24yo & even to me, it was so obviously & hilariously wrong, I bought it for posterity.
