👋 Hi, I’m Garrett.

You might know me from my past software work:
→ xPad, a macOS notes app
→ Ego, a stat-tracking iOS app
→ SimpleLog, a Rails CMS
→ Scratch, an iOS quick-notes app
→ Breathable, an AQI widget

I founded Karbon in 2010. We’ve spent nearly 16 years helping the best clients in the world build amazing apps for millions of users.

I live in PDX with my wife, two kids and pets. I take photos, play video games, build keyboards, and try to make the world a better place.

New server, new #introduction:

👋 Hi! I'm Eric! I'm a scientific programmer & educator who writes mostly :rstats: code. I currently work part time at #UniversityOfArizona where I help researchers by making R packages, #Shiny apps, automated data workflows, and training them on #ReproducibleResearch practices. I also mentor data scientists for @Posit Academy. I am #OpenToWork as a contractor if any of those skills sound useful to you.

My background is in plant chemical ecology and population ecology and for my PhD I studied #tea and did field work in China. I love tea (although I've been drinking coffee more and more lately) and practice #GongFuCha when I can. I love #foraging and tasting new things.

I currently live in #Tucson but the #BayArea will always be my home.

Hello !

Since it's been a bit, here's quick #Introduction and what you can expect from me...

I worked in venture backed startups & tech for 10 years doing operations, marketing, and communications ...so I know the difference between a product that creates value and what's just Silicon Valley Spin

Have also worked in nonprofits and did a tour as a business journalist, which gave me some insight into how things get funded and why (+ experience looking at financials & public records)

#introduction

I'm Sidal and this is my whole personality. /j

Came to Canada in June 2022. Started my transition here after having traumatizing times.

I'm into technology, luxury cars, European things, privacy, pets especially dogs, gaming, beauty, and dark humour. Also politics as I like European politics and their government.

I'm an atheist since my childhood.

I will start George Brown College in this September. And that's it I guess. Nothing else is coming to my mind right now.

Open to make friends. DMs are open. Chatting is also okay.

So this is where my peeps at!

Hello everyone, my name is Børge and I am happy to get back into the BSD world, though only for personal projects for now.

I was a sysadmin for a small telco a while ago and we used Solaris/SPARC and FreeBSD/i386 for our servers, while I tried my hand at OpenBSD for my personal server. The network was all Cisco at the beginning, with some Juniper equipment for peering at the end but I did not get any experience with those unfortunately. I do have a certificate in SS7 somewhere, the signaling protocol telcos use for voice calls, but have forgotten pretty much all of it.

These days work is "cloud everything", which all seems to be based on Linux-something.

Reminiscing of "the good, old days" I wondered if I could run a BSD server anywhere to tap into my sysadmin background a little, or if I would have to use some Linux distribution.

Searching for BSD hosting providers, I am very happy I discovered #OpenBSDAms which I use for OpenBSD hosting (obviously).

Then I came across #BoxyBSD where I was lucky enough to get a FreeBSD instance.

Last but not least I came across a cheap VPS provider where I could run NetBSD. I don't mention the provider because I'm not sure I can recommend them yet.

I've been on Mastodon a little while, mostly reading as there is so much of interest to find here, though also because I'm quite shy, but hope to maybe post something about what I do now and then.

I really like all the *BSDs, they just do things in a way that seems sensible to me, so being here feels a lot like coming home.

So that's me a little about me. #introduction

How are you?

Right, I switched instances... Should maybe do a new #introduction ?

Hej 👋 I'm a hobby artist from northern Sweden doing traditional drawings and old-school pixel art. Most of what I make is fantasy and/or animal related.

I'm also a web developer who enjoys making websites both professionally and for fun. On here I focus on the "for fun" part.

But if we're being honest, I mostly just post photos of my dog and talk about whatever the weather is doing. As my previous post indicates 😅

I just realised that I had never made an intro post, so here it is:

As you'll see on my profile, I'm a bit of a professional chimera. I studied an engineering field back in the day, but switched gears to clinical psychology when the stars aligned for such a big change.

I'm interested in very many things, and one day, I would like to either work in child-and-youth psychiatry, psychotherapy, or psychological counselling for minorities. Currently, I'm nearing the end of my studies, and I earn my bread as a Linux system administrator.

Hello Mastodon! 👋

My name is Delilah. (it's my online alias, not a legal name). I am a psychologist and youth counselor, and I mostly work with people suffering from personality disorders, eating disorders, and ASD/ADHD/ADD.

I have had teenage patients as well as adults and even families. In my career I even worked at schools but ended up abandoning that path due to constant defunding, where I no longer could help people without struggling to pay bills.

I will be posting mostly about how mental disorders work and to share some information about them. However I want to make it clear, that what I post should never be a substitute for actual medical consultation, and that I will not do therapy on social media.
I want to keep myself somewhat anonymous to not reveal my real-life identity, and to of course respect privacy laws related to my profession.

Outside of that, I like to keep myself up to date with technology and privacy, as it affects our mental health no matter how much we tend to deny this. I'm a cat mom of two, and love to tend to my mini-garden of vegetables.

I am not from USA, and English is not my first language, so please excuse my mistakes. I also ask to respect my privacy and be kind!

Looking forward to meeting new friends, and hopefully there are some profession peers on Mastodon?

Hi everyone! My old introduction was getting a little stale so I figured it was time to write a new one. I’m John, and I now live on the east coast of Canada. I’m a 50-something physicist who invented a laser technology to detect diseases using exhaled breath, in addition to some holographic technologies. I love R&D but the best part of my career has been mentoring promising young scientists, engineers, and founders. I have a wide variety of interests that include music, art, science, health, photography, books, reading, video games, biking, hiking, gardening, and much more. I am a lifelong feminist and ally. When I came to Mastodon from Twitter in the fall of 2022, I had no idea that I was actually autistic. If you made it this far, please wave or say hello! #introduction #actuallyautistic #physics #science #Canada #startups #founder #mentoring #books

bonjour le fediverse ! je suis français mais je tooterai majoritairement en anglais (^c^) !

hi fediverse. I'm Lucas, a PhD student at IGE (CNRS, Grenoble, France) whose work focuses on studying the interaction between aerosols and clouds in the Arctic. I'm using climate models and collaborate closely with satellitary observers to improve our understanding of clouds.

I'm counting on mastodon to share about my work and raise awereness around my main scientific concern : climate change (big surprise, is this even a thing anymore ?).

More generally, I wish my academic work could go on being more interdisciplinary and more focused on helping societies and citizens understand and adapt to climate change.

Finally, I'm engaged in climate struggles and love to learn new stuff and share about it. All contents not related to my work will be showed with the appropriate CW.

happy to meet you all c:
