I steamed up some #clams before midnight
Ate bunch of them with chili nuoc cham sauce with lots of lime juice added. These ones are from up island - bought from local vendor. They're littlenecks & manillas - really common on our island beaches.
I'm going clam digging & oyster harvesting next week - up island.

There have been multiple reports of Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning from eating mussels harvested in the area from the Washington border to Seal Rock State Recreation Site. Mussels picked since Saturday must be thrown away, as cooking or freezing them does not kill the toxins. Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning can be deadly, especially for children. Appropriate medical care can lessen the risk of death. Do not feed these mussels to pets."

@wonderofscience In California, fisherman wanted to reduce the starfish population that was affecting the shellfish populations. Their bright idea? Every time they caught a starfish they cut it in half and threw it back in the ocean. The catch? Starfish can regenerate limbs so the fishermen effectively created two starfish for every one they caught!
