Systems Hardware Friday

Yet another afternoon stroll on over to the storage unit, locating spares and system parts from former projects. These will be allocated to three systems in my homelab (the rack at home this time):

1. Raptor Talos II box, needs a pair of Optane NVMe boot drives
2. Supermicro, EPYC Zen4, an additional Nvidia GPU for CUDA meta-port dev
3. Supermicro, E3/v6 Xeon, a second QAT 8960 for OpenZFS + OpenSSL comp/decomp/crypto offload
~. Napatech 4x10G SmartNIC, this is for my TRex load generators, so it's going to the colo

Should be a relaxing evening, mostly focused on the installs, and maybe some project planning too.

Roused from sleep by an ominous jingle, I sat up in bed and looked to my left where, bathed in the dim light of our nightlight, was the silhouette of my black cat, sitting patiently in the middle of my bedroom doorway, STARING at me with her glowing reflective eyes.

It was the funniest thing, and probably the ONLY thing that could have woken me up at this hour and NOT put me in an immediate bad mood.
