Hat sich in Sachen #SelfHosted #LiveTracking in letzter Zeit eigentlich etwas Interessantes getan? Meine Experimente früher mit PhoneTrack für Nextcloud, Traccar und OwnTracks waren alle eher so meh. Ich würde nur gern einen Track hochladen und dann einen Link öffentlich/privat teilen, der meine Position auf dem Track zeigt. Komoot u. a. bieten ja auch Live-Tracking an, aber halt meist gegen Geld, und die Daten liegen dann halt dort.

I intend to replace #tailscale (which I have running since a couple weeks at home) with #selfhosted #wireguard. Already did some tests with my VPS's wireguard setup and I was able to netcat "text" over the tunnel towards a termbin service running on the VPS, from a #WSL2 #shell at home. Running a webserver would be the same exact thing as I'm currently doing with tailscale.. I just need to setup a local #DNS service first. The only thing is, I might need a second VM to not break existing setup

Which XMPP server do you recommend and why?

Edit: I deployed ejabberd with Docker yesterday, and it's working pretty well compared to the earlier versions I tried. I think I'll stick to it for now.

Where can i buy/provision the cheapest VPS? Besides on Mikrus (I need Terraform provider). European company/location would be a nice addition.
