Upgraded my #framework13 laptop to 64gig of memory in under 5 minutes while sitting on the sofa.

Seriously don't think I can go back to a non-self repairable laptops now. If I didn't have the Pixel 9 pro, I think the #Fairphone would be next.

I wished @frameworkcomputer would offer a clear / transparent cased #Framework12 or #Framework13 option.

• Or just the 3D files to injection-mold.that one, as I'm shure they didn't do that is due to regulatory compliance.

Cuz even stuff like a prison laptop uses metal shields to comply with EMI regulations...

I've updated my Core Ultra 1 #framework13 laptop to the latest bios from #LVFS and it was just perfect.

I recently switched one of my apps (beekeeper studio) from an appimage to the flatpak due to issues with the new version.

I'm happy that it works, but I noticed that on my highdpi screen on the #framework13 the cursor is TINY when in the app, but full size when outside of it, and in other apps.

I feel like i've seen this issue before with #flatpak and #highdpi #linux

Any ideas to fix, or is this something the app creator needs to fix?

There are #Framework13 models now with #AMD CPUs! This is getting interesting for many reasons!

1. The AMD Ryzen AI CPUs come with a #NPU based on #XDNA from the #Xilinx acquisition. In practice #AMDXDNA only made it into Linux 6.14 (e.g. in the very recent Fedora 42) and there is no end user support as of today making the NPU dead hardware as of today and probably most of 2025.

2. The AMD Ryzen CPUs come with AVX512 and that's working end to end unlike whatever the f #Intel is doing there.

ok I think I'm getting a good feel for the Framework 13 keyboard

now that I've had my Framework 13 for a couple days, I have to say that trackpad gestures in GNOME are every bit as nice to use as I imagined they'd be

I did of course make use of them back with my Pinebook Pro, but the PBP's trackpad doesn't hold up against the Framework 13's at all. the latter's is definitely the nicest trackpad I've used on a laptop

(the bar _is_ pretty low as far as what I've actually used myself, but, still)

I am very happy with my new work laptop. It's a Framework AMD 13 which I have of course installed https://getaurora.dev on.

Thanks to everyone who made suggestions when I was trying to make the decision a couple of weeks ago.

It does look like I'm getting in just before they announce the new generation, but this will be *plenty* fast for what I need.

Anyone here who uses the #Framework16 laptop? Do you recommend it as a work laptop? Are there any downsides? How's Linux on that thing?

Having upgraded to the #framework16 this week, my wife has taken over my #framework13 - moved her Windows drive from her old machine over. Poor thing has never run Windows, feels wrong

Can someone explain why #system76 has open source UEFI firmware but #framework does not? Is open source firmware a goal for framework or is that not really on their radar? It seems like it would be.
