Beautiful evening climbing at the Hawcraig, at Aberdour tonight. I love how the Firth of Forth looks almost enclosed like a sea loch from this angle. The gorse are always spectacular in May.
Later on, Edinburgh windows shone orange reflecting the setting sun.
Tuilyies, Torryburn, #Fife …. with ‘Tuilyies’ said to be a corruption of the Scots ‘tulzie’ meaning a place of turmoil or fight. #StandingStoneSunday

We've been busy confirming the next saltmarsh restoration planting dates today.
If you are in Fife, near Tayport or St Andrews and like getting muddy while restoring habitat, reducing coastal erosion and creating a carbon store, we have a day out (or more) for you.
Dates and how to sign up to volunteer on our webpage:

The last lot of photos from our week around the East Neuk of Fife.
This area is Fife Ness, the easternmost point of the East Neuk of Fife. There's a lot of golfing to be had here, but we were more interested in the beachs and rocks around this gorgeous coastline https://www.iancylkowski.com/blog/2025/3/15/fife-ness-east-neuk-of-fife-scotland-winter
I hope you like history!
Welcome to the historical town of St Andrews. Featuring the world's 3rd oldest English-speaking university, the ruins of St Andrews clifftop castle, and an otherworldly rock formation east of the town.
There's PLENTY more photos from this day too! Isn't that nice? Just go here -> https://www.iancylkowski.com/blog/2025/3/11/st-andrews-fife-scotland-winter
The attractive but little-known harbour at Cellardyke, now effectively an eastern extension of Anstruther in the East Neuk of Fife. More pics and info: https://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/anstruther/cellardyke/index.html
Sunset at the bay of Aberdour, Scotland in the evening sky. Taken December 2024.
Walked for around an hour up a cliff to catch this, well worth the effort.

Red Sky In The Morning
One of the things I love most about our house in #Fife is that my bedroom window faces south, and I get to see beauty like this some mornings when I open the curtains.
This is why I keep a camera upstairs - for the only thing that delays my vital first coffee!
Sharing a few drams leads to £158,914 whisky bar bill
I wish I had been invited (as a non paying guest of course)
Blair Bowman, a whisky expert, said he expected the guests to be “high net-worth individuals' - that or the card bounced... Where do they find these 'informed' commentators?
An auspicious day for Fife VegFest (https://vgn.kdy.scot): we got our market licence confirmed, and the local press wrote about our upcoming event: https://www.fifetoday.co.uk/news/people/fife-vegan-festival-returns-to-bigger-kirkcaldy-venue-after-success-of-first-event-4942634
Come to Kirkcaldy on Sunday 19th Jan, 11-4, for many tasty treats, block print-your-own merch, a raffle with top notch prizes, yoga, and we even got a local councillor on one of our panels this time.
(Wish me luck, I'm not sleeping between now and Sunday.)
Fire Works
Happy New Year, everyone!
Dawn at 8:30am in mid-January, and the sky is full of colour.
Seen from my bedroom window in #Fife, eastern #'Scotland.
Happy St Andrew's Day! Scotland's patron saint is St Andrew and his feast day is celebrated by both eastern and western Christian churches on 30 November. The picture is of St Andrews. More pics and info: https://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/usbiography/a/standrew.html

Posted 26 photos: #aurora from #fife 10th October 2024
Worked late, and was rewarded by finally getting to see the aurora from Scotland! And better than when I was in Finland tbh. Went down to the beach, and as soon as I was clear of lamp posts it was super vivid. Sat out freezing for an hour and a half, watching it ripple around the sky.
Posted 42 photos: a normal week...
Sunrises etc.
Tigger the cat appeared in my flat while I was having lunch, as surprised about this as I was. O (7yo) came back from him, replaced him with Miley the french bulldog. Just go with the flow..
