Evening run before we are back up in Edinburgh for a long day, oh joy

8.5k, all road, dry and quiet. But coming back along the Teviot, dumbo de dug decided that he would bring a souvenir. I frequently pause here and throw a stick a few times to wind him down, but this? At least he brought it back another k and it is on the 'to be chopped' for the stove pile....

The analog sticks on the Switch [Lite] are garbage. I have classic Doom on the system, and I can play it just fine on other consoles, but the Switch makes it unplayable. I aim better playing Doom on the PSX, which uses the D-Pad. Yes, a D-Pad is better. Why do you think Nintendo sells a "Pro controller"? Only way to get decent analog control. Can't wait to not buy a Switch 2 because I don't hate myself.

Portable gaming devices should not have analog sticks at all.

More sticks. Behind every barn, a collection of old sticks. Need to do another round with the trailer and pick them up.

Also, there's something living in that barn. Inside is a hole filled with hay that I thought was from the (dead) badger and not being used anymore.

But today there were lots of paw prints in the snow where there's a gap under the door.

Need to knock politely before going in there next! :)

There is no magic solution for #archiving #digital #media. Statistically, #thumb #drives and #USB #sticks fail within few years, so will #SSD drives and #flash drives. Consumer grade #HDD may work few years longer but not much. Archive HDD drives will probably work a decade or so but eventually will fail. Creating new copies to constantly updated drives seems to be the best strategy but can suffer from #generation #loss due to physical damages, changing file formats etc. arstechnica.com/gadgets/2024/0

Also it's not as if #Flashdrives are expensive...

  • Even a reputable brand is cheap if one doesn't need speed or capacity...

4GB for €2,57, 8GB for €3,09 & 16GB for €3,59 and those are like retail prices and not buying a 100-pack in bulk...

  • OFC don't buy cheap #USB #Sticks in bulk, because if you buy cheap no-name crap you get often 10+ year old counterfeilt garbage that doesn't even work half the time new out of the box.

Ask me how I know...

I am up to the 4th ep of #SonicPrime, and it has had it's talented moments, and not talented moments. And I am not sure what to make of this story yet.

But the Knuckles in this jungle universe is vveerryy much #Sticks, the badger. And I feel a bit mad. Did the writers not know about Sticks? Did they, and thought they could improve on greatness? Did they, and thought lets give them almost, but not really? Either way, just give us Sticks. I miss -her-, not an imitation.
