It's really cool that you can run Linux apps on a Chromebook. But the experience is really awful. The apps open so slowly, the windowing is kind of bad for many apps, there's a third file system in addition to the Google Drive and Play Store file systems. So why get a Chromebook?

Well, this Pixelbook hardware is really nice and is very well made. It is silent. The battery has lasted many years now and ChromeOS is rock solid. There isn't any Linux hardware today as good.

#Accessibility hive mind, I have some questions about #ChromeVox as well as #Chromebook accessibility & #usability in general. I'm working with a #PixelBook that has never been used. ChromeVox is telling me to use commands involving the search key as a modifier, but these seem not to work as any use of the search key invokes #Google #Gemini. What's going on here? Additionally, how are #blind people using #Chromebooks? In what tasks do they excel. In what tasks do they fall short? Any input and/or information would be greatly appreciated.

My plan for #jitsi+#PS4 browser failed so I've fallen back to my #pixelbook and the #linaro hdmi USB adaptor I got a while back at one of the connects.

It took a little cleaning up (re-downgrading) of the #crostini packages on my #buster image but I've finally got #steam running on my #pixelbook. Now time to test the #virtio-gpu support.

@gsora @corbin It's still too soon to judge Slate. But I wouldn't bet on it being more successful than #Pixelbook which has a big advantage... Rising adoption among (web)developers fed up with Macbooks and -- more importantly -- within Google itself. As any other Google product, as long as Googlers use it internally, it will receive lot more attention.

I have to say #google have done a good job on the #crostini integration on the #pixelbook. Cut and paste from the #debian image just work as do GUI programs. I had a dev environment set up within minutes but still get the plus points of #chromeos.
