@jfmezei There's lots of info out there eg at @fairvote . Basically a system is proportional if the number of MPs per party reflects the party's share of the vote. The Electoral Commission recommended that Canada adopt a Mixed Member Proportional system where you still elected local MPs but parties would top up the legislature to match their vote share. @JustinTrudeau nixed this, of course.

@jfmezei Results like that are precisely why I think we need Proportional Representation. Ranked Ballots are likely to give us decades of Liberal governments, no doubt why @JustinTrudeau preferred it. At least FPTP swaps out the teams every few years.
Only Proportional Representation will give us a parliament that reflects the choices of all Canadians.

We didn't avoid falling into the same trap as America, we took a step towards it.
Next election you'll also "have" to vote liberal to keep out the conservatives.
They'll be told they "have" to vote conservative to end 15 years of liberal rule.
This is how FPTP destabilizes democracy, it's now coming straight for #Canada
We have to stop treating #ProportionalRepresentation like some back burner issue or we will lose our country.
