#InternetArchive and #WaybackMachine and #OpenLibrary need money.

They are not only victim of recent cyberattacks, they also host a very important service to the whole world that actually should be publicly funded anyhow.

You can not only pay via #PayPal (and more) help.archive.org/help/how-do-i but also use a simple wire transfer help.archive.org/help/how-do-i also including Euro/SEPA/IBAN. 👍

I'm wiring a few bucks each month because I think that they really should be funded well. 👋

#Bookwyrm meta question: Is there an overarching strategy to add titles and correct the (maaany) incorrect entries? I don't mind contributing manually, but it seems like part wasted effort unless other projects can benefit from it. "We believe in the right of authors to benefit from their work; and we believe that libraries must be permitted to fulfill their mission of providing access to knowledge, regardless of whether it takes physical or digital form. Doing so upholds the principle that knowledge should be equally and equitably accessible to everyone, regardless of where they live or where they learn."

They also argued that the takedowns dealt "a serious blow to lower-income families, people with disabilities, rural communities, and LGBTQ+ people, among many others," who may not have access to a local library or feel "safe accessing the information they need in public."

Tutti contro Internet Archive
