Our first ever cohort of Climatematch Impact Scholars has wrapped up their research projects and presented them to experts from Coupled Model Intercomparison Project and LEAP this week.
After last year’s Climatematch Academy, these 11 teams of up-and-coming researchers from all around the globe were selected to pursue research topics ranging from the influence of ENSO on the coastal upwelling along Northwest Africa to fire events in Argentinian Andean-Patagonian Forests.
Throughout this journey, Scholars received computing resources, guidance through workshops, and mentoring from international experts in their fields.
We would like to give a huge thanks to our Scholars, their mentors, our seminar chairs and the group of dedicated volunteers that made the program possible.

Institutions seldom if ever dissolve gracefully. More often than not institutions lose their compass, their founders gone, the original purpose forgotten or sidelined, and sustaining its own existence having taken centre place, living another day like zombies.
For #neuroscience, would it be fair to say that #Neuromatch is emerging as a society in the proper sense of the word, and modern -- has its own Mastodon server, for starts; applies technology from the bottom up, and has an online-only open access journal on the works that is both free to read and to publish in.

Just moved instance (hi #neuromatch!) - so I guess it's #introduction time!
A winding road has taken me from Sports Science (biomechanics, motor control and learning) to #neuroscience, thinking about brains in the context of ecology and evolution.
I'm enthusiastic about #OpenScience, developing tools with #rstats, #python, #3Dprinting and beyond.
Outside of work, I love spending time in the outdoors, from caves to mountain tops. I also enjoy any type of sport, photography, singing, my piano and books.

I miss what feels like a valuable source of exciting news/data. But mainly, I miss the opportunity to join in the joy.., to massively celebrate milestones & to acknowledge their deserving nature.
I wonder if this is a feature of the less "showy"/more raw character of the fediverse. Or it's just coincidence in the #neuromatch instance TL.
