"@capturetheatlas A Once-in-a-Lifetime Shot: Total Lunar Eclipse + Aurora Substorm!
Last Thursday night, under the freezing skies of Northern Alaska, I witnessed something I never thought I’d see in my lifetime…
A Total Lunar Eclipse—with the Moon fully immersed in Earth’s shadow—unfolded just as a powerful Aurora substorm exploded across the sky, painting the darkness with surreal waves of green and purple light.
I traveled thousands of miles, braving extreme cold and unpredictable weather, hoping for this rare celestial alignment. These two events rarely coincide—but on this night, everything lined up perfectly.
This is why I chase the night sky—because sometimes, the universe gives us pure magic. Have you ever seen an eclipse or the Northern Lights? Let me know in the comments!

I was confused about how the image even works so went to check it out. Very cool!
The #moon from my house on the day of the #LunarEclipse. This is a few hours after the eclipse itself. I don't exactly have a clear view for sunsets etc.
One of my frames from the Lunar Eclipse.
I did bracketed bursts at different exposure lengths during totality. So this is a stack of 70 images. The moon & stars are stacked separately and then recombined.
I did go a bit overboard on the processing for this one.
Last night's lunar eclipse as viewed from the Moon.
Photo by Firefly Aerospace's Blue Ghost lander.
A sequence of my #LunarEclipse pictures from last night.
@nantucketebooks @coreyspowell I mean, you could if you stepped out and looked at the Moon during the eclipse
Attached, my shitty cellphone pic that I snapped this morning at 3 AM.
j/k, I know what you mean - that would be a really cool shot. I'd like to see a side-by-side comparison of the lunar landscape as it appears normally, and as it appeared during the eclipse.
Good afternoon!
Look at the awesome pics my kid got of the moon last night!
I hope you have a fantastic Friday!
@coreyspowell A Moment of Unity for Humanity!
This stunning image captures something bigger than politics—Earth eclipsing the Sun, seen from the Moon.
A powerful reminder that we share one planet, one sky, one future. No borders, no sides—just humanity united in awe and discovery.

I fell asleep last night but had a cam out to try and see if I can get some #lunareclipse action. This is different from the excellent photos I have seen by others but I kind of love it because of that You get to see when it happens, and I loved how the music worked along with it. This is 649 photos stacked together, then made into a video. The music is called "Meditation, Sleep, Relaxing Music for a Beautiful Space". Happy Friday, everyone!
Wallpaper version of all my lunar eclipse shows from the first half of the event last night. All approx 15 min. apart.

Stayed up way too late last night, but did manage to get a descent picture of the lunar eclipse. #Astronomy #Astrophotography #LunarEclipse
@AkaSci
I tried a simple example of viewing a #LunarEclipse from the moon at one on my website web pages.

A creepy #lunareclipse just before the end. Looks like the Earth’s shadow is taking a bite out of the moon. Shot through a little bit of clouds on my phone from St. Louis MO
The Creature hopes everyone who could saw the #LunarEclipse tonight~~
