They've been unable to attract an angel #investor because they refuse to sign over control of the company. They've made it this far entirely with equity #crowdfunding but they need to somehow raise about $30 million to qualify for matching funds from the state of #California to pay for large scale #manufacturing equipment. #electricvehicles

I remember, a long time ago, when we started to have fuel efficiency standards. The Japanese hired well educated engineers to solve the fuel efficiency problem, the US #bigCorp hired lawyers and lobbyist to go to DC to have our laws changed.
It is still going on today and in all areas of business.
Want a present day example.
our gov gives more grants to bigCorp for 4 wheel electric cars but not to #aptera which has a well designed 3 wheel electric car....because it has 3 wheels.

Just an incredible vehicle and up to this point it has been funded entirely by ordinary people. The big #corporations want to sell you subscriptions for heated seats. Aptera sells you freedom.

@grammargirl I love the concept and design. I understand what they're trying to achieve, as I'm a car nut and familiar with marine & automobile composite construction. As Colin Chapman of Lotus said, "Add lightness." This would absolutely handle 95%+ of my actual driving needs. And it eliminates many of the current EV hassles as a suburban apartment dweller.
I want one. I'm rooting for #Aptera, though it feels pricey for what it is.

Welp, now I've seen it I like everything about the #Aptera Launch Edition except the lack of L2 Cruise Control and L3 Charging. Lack of L3 charging may be a deal breaker, actually.
Inability to charge more than 57 miles an hour means you drive 400 miles and suddenly have to wait SEVEN HOURS to continue your journey if you need a full charge again.
