Hey #Selfhost Enthusiasts, what is your way of #selfhosting your website? I wanna do that for my first time, but I'm a bit otherwhelmed by the possibilities.
My plan is kinda to have a webserver within podman and make it public via dynDNS on my router. I wanna do it on my Raspi 5, which is my only homeserver and I can’t separate my network yet. Do you have any advice for me? What should I keep in mind? What do you think about caddy? Repost appreciated

I started writing up that "how to make a blog from 'scratch'" tutorial, and I'm wondering what good alternatives exist to Netlify's "drop your folder here" UX.
I really hated bringing CI into my own blog, and there's something lovely and almost tactile about just uploading your build dir somewhere manually.
I rsync my own blog somewhere, but for the tutorial I'm going as far as I can without introducing new software or cli tools -- no git, no cli, no installing things, it's all gonna be plain text and leveraging the browser's js engine for the first few iterations.
The Netlify free tier is pretty generous for static sites, though I'm sure it costs your soul or something -- back to original question: What similar things are out there that would be beginner friendly or have a similar drag/drop ux?

It's just a simple wordpress website for a card game, Penguinslap.com. We don't really get any traffic at all. Very occasionally we make a sale, and those links redirect to a PayPal site.

OK so this wasn't me but my heart is pounding like it was. I just found out a colleague had their hosting hacked (all their clients sites) because someone else on the box was hacked.
Now I'm no security expert but I'm damned sure every client's site should be secure and independent from every other account and my over all space should be independent from every other client on the box.

I removed, OVH from my list of recommended providers.
Why?
OVH previously only resold servers in the United States, with their datacenters and business offices overseas in France. Today, OVH is under direct Us Jurisdiction, even redirecting their traffic to their American site us.ovhcloud.com and their terms of services outline an address in the USA, plus they're hiring for their own datacenter in the USA, and lastly in the footer of the website it now reads, "Copyright ©2025 OVH US LLC"
Man trying to shop around for a Canadian domain registrar is like wack-a-mole of problems.
Does anyone here have practical experience (or at least suggestions) for using an EU-based alternative to Firebase Hosting?
I'm talking about small, static sites that need to load fast. Ideally with a nice CLI experience (`firebase deploy`). Doesn't need to be free of charge.
From my limited research, Slovenia-based bunny.net might be a good fit, for example.

Wohin kann man sinnvoll wechseln? Ich habe dort 2 Domains mit insgesamt 4 Postfächern und bei Strato 4 Domains mit ~5 Postfächern.
Irgendwelche Tipps? Der Webanteil kann eigentlich sehr basic sein, kein großes Volumen, was da drüber läuft.
