Damnit. This (and the podcast so far) really just feels like an attempt to push #nostr and #bitcoin, not a serious effort to advance the best decentralized solutions for our problems. I'm open to them but my understanding so far is that they have lots of downsides that make other options (like #ActivityPub and #WebMonetization) worth putting more effort behind. Where are the public conversations between experts on both sides who can hash it out understandably for us?
Well! Look what #Twitter founder and #Bluesky / #Nostr co-founder Jack #Dorsey just gave $10m to...
'The team at “and Other Stuff” is also working on a social media “Bill of Rights”…which spells out what social media platforms need to provide in areas like #privacy, #security, #interoperability, #transparency, #identity, self-governance, and #portability.' #DMA #DMCCA

'The group originally met through collaborating on #Nostr, an open, “apolitical” social networking protocol that has been receiving the bulk of #Dorsey’s attention since #Twitter’s sale to Elon #Musk and his stepping down from social network #Bluesky’s board. However, the team will experiment with other tools, too, like #ActivityPub'

I'd love to hear a conversation about #ActivityPub vs #nostr etc.
Why most radical tech is pointless, and why #indymediaback isn’t
Almost everything built in today’s alt-radical tech scene is, bluntly, pointless. Despite good intentions, most of it ends up feeding the endless cycle of #fashernista churn, flashy new platforms, bleeding-edge protocols, or encrypted communication tools nobody uses, built by isolated teams disconnected from real-world needs or history. This is the #geekproblem: a culture where novelty is fetishized, and social usefulness is an afterthought, if it appears at all.

Just another reminder that #OpenVibe IS THE BEST place if you use multiple social media platforms.
Cross-posting to #Threads #BlueSky, #Mastodon and #Nostr.
A combined timeline for most of your platforms.
OpenVibe only gets better and better with each update.

I'm on both Mastodon and Nostr, and it's fun to see how decentralised tech folks react to each other.
Folks on Fedi: You're on Nostr? You nasty, vile crypto bro, closet MAGA excuse of a "libertarian", misogynistic, anti-LGBT, Christian fundamentalist…
Folks on Nostr: Why are you even on Fedi? It's boring, full of communists acting like Karens at each other. Are you a German naturalist or something?
Alright folks, you caught me!
For anyone that can't come to my talk at #ForwardJS in #Ottawa tonight, check out my slides and run the speaker notes through the shittiest text to speech you can find to get a similar experience.
@j12t @tchambers @benpate I mean that's pretty much how #nostr works.
Z ciekawostek innych sieci społecznościowych, Nostr przeżywa właśnie wysyp botów wrzucających w komentarzach gejowskie porno. No ale moderacja jest zła, bo komunis. Obecny pomysł to płatne przekaźniki. Powodzenia z nowymi użytkownikami.
What is the state of key-based identities in ActivityPub? Or applications that utilize key-based identities on top of ActivityPub? #fediverse #activitypub #mastodon #nostr

@eriner @mhjohnson @realcaseyrollins@social.teci.world I don't think this is a #Mastodon issue, I wanna say it's due to #Mostr not federating certain types of #Nostr posts to the #Fediverse.
