Today, I drive from Gillingham to Rainham and up to London Bridge, where our service terminates today.

I then drive back to Gillingham, where I have an hour break.

After the break, I drive from Gillingham to London Bridge and back to Gillingham, where I’m done for the day.

Today, I’m on a similar job to that of the last two days… the only difference being that I drive from Gillingham to Rainham and then up to Luton before coming straight back down to London Bridge for an hour break.

After the break, I drive back to Rainham and up to Gillingham, where I’m done for the day.

Today, I’m on the same job as yesterday.

Yesterday,I got delayed on the way to Luton at Slade Green. Somehow, a Southeastern service had been allowed out of the depot too early and had to wait until its departure time from the station.

This left me stuck behind that and another service behind it, which made additional stops at Erith, Belvedere and Woolwich Dockyard. This delayed me further and although I made some of that time up when I went through The Core, I lost it all again (and more) outside of St. Albans City, whilst I waited for the terminating service to move into the Centre Siding (this location is always a bottle neck for us on the Down Slow line.

I ended up arriving at Luton 20 minutes late, which was 4 minutes after I should have departed for my journey back the other way.

By the time I’d changed ends and set up again, my train was going to be departing 12 minutes late, but luckily I was given a “not to stop” order by platform staff at Luton.

This instruction authorised me to run fast from Luton Airport Parkway to West Hampstead Thameslink, so I made the necessary announcements and updated the Passenger Information System.

Unusually, I was put a across to the Up Fast line at Harpenden Junction and made it to West Hampstead Thameslink just two minutes late, before being put back across to the Up Slow at West Hampstead South Junction.

By the time I left St. Pancras International, I was on time again.

I’m back to work after my long weekend!

Today, I drive from Gillingham to Luton and straight back down to London Bridge, where I have an hour break.

After the break, I drive from London Bridge to Rainham and up to Gillingham, where I’m done for the day.

Today, I’m getting to visit Bedford again.

I drive from Gillingham to Luton, where I have a 30 minute break. After the break, I drive to Bedford, where I have a 50 minute break. After that break, I drive back to Luton and 20 minutes later, drive from there back to Gillingham, where I’m done for the day.

Today, my job is amended.

I’m supposed to travel to Dartford and drive the next train down to Rainham and up to Luton for an hour break.

Instead, I travel to Cricklewood prepare a unit there (a “full” preparation as opposed to our usual “partial” preparation, which doesn’t include an exterior inspection and sanding equipment testing because of space restrictions), drive it as ECS to Mill Hill Broadway and then in service to Luton.

After my break, I drive to Gillingham, where I’m done for the day.

I’m on annual leave tomorrow so won’t be in again until Wednesday 👍🏻

Yesterday, I had an online training day with my competency development manager so I had to do a few online assessments designed to help maintain my competencies and non-technical skills.

Today, our jobs are heavily amended due to engineering works and this has done me a massive favour.

My job is a 9 hour one today and ordinarily, I’d drive from Gillingham to Luton and straight back down to London Bridge, where I’d have an hour break.

After the break, I’d travel to Luton and drive the next train back to Gillingham, where I’d be done for the day.

Instead, my day starts almost an hour later.

I drive from Gillingham to Rainham and back to Gillingham, where I have an hour break.

I then do exactly the same again before having another hour break.

Finally, I drive from Gillingham to London Bridge (where our service is terminating today), down to Rainham and up to Gillingham, where I’m done for the day.

Because our service runs hourly instead of the usual half-hourly today (I have no idea why that is), the turnaround time at Rainham each time is 45 minutes, instead of the usual 15 minutes. I’ll need to remember to bring a drink with me for the turnarounds!

Today is the last day of my working week and I’m in for a nice, short shift.

I drive from Gillingham to Luton, where I have an hour break.

After the break, I drive back to Gillingham, where I report to the Duty Resource Manager and effectively sit as “spare” for 1.5 hours (although there’s not actually much I can really do in such a short time.

I’m then back in for the early shift on Friday.

Good afternoon!

I’m on a slightly amended job today (due to it being a Bank Holiday) so got to come in a bit later.

I drive from Gillingham to London Bridge, where I have a 1.5 hour break.

After the break, I drive to Luton, straight back down to Rainham and then up to Gillingham, where I’m done for the day.

I’m on a late start today; 17:50.

I drive from Gillingham to Rainham, up to Kentish Town (where the service terminates) and back to London Bridge, where I have an hour break.

After the break, I drive back to Kentish Town, then to Gillingham (where the service terminates) and then as ECS to Rochester Down Loop, where I berth the unit for the night before getting a taxi home.

Today, I have a nice, short shift.

I drive from Gillingham to Rainham and back to Gillingham, where I have an hour break.

After the break, I drive to Rainham again, up to West Hampstead Thameslink, where the service terminates.

I then drive the unit as ECS into Cricklewood depot via the Wash Road (although apparently the wash is out of action at the moment) before berthing it there and getting a train home.

Yesterday, when I arrived at Charlton on the Up North Kent (heading towards London), I was contacted by the signaller to advise that the Up Greenwich was blocked, so I’d have to go on a diversion.

I continued straight on the Up North Kent, through Charlton Tunnel (which I’ve only ever been through twice before, both times in the up direction) and fast to London Bridge, where I arrived for my break about 5 minutes late due to congestion.

Good afternoon!

It’s a glorious day today and I’m going to get to enjoy it for a bit later!

I drive from Gillingham to Rainham and up to London Bridge, where I have a 3 hour break. That’s plenty of time for food and a wander along the Thames!

After the break, I drive from London Bridge to Kentish Town (where the service terminates) and then back to Gillingham (where the service terminates) before driving the unit as ECS into the depot and berthing it for the night. I then get a taxi home.
