@ingalls Most government web maps that display GIS data use ESRI software. That software makes a zillion calls to the ArcGIS server in order to do anything. Think 'bloatware'.
Below is a link to the 'lightweight' Leaflet web map I produce that displays the same data - in this case, all the weather watches and warnings.
Open the map, click colored area, follow the link. Since the spot you clicked might have more than one type of weather watch/warning, scroll down in the popup since each type of watch or warning has its own link for the details.
At the risk of tooting my own horn, GISsurfer has lots of features that are not apparent just by looking at the map. For both video and PDF tutorials see:

Interesting, no requests for FEMA assistance after the severe weather this weekend. Curious if that's because they've been told it will not be forthcoming, or they just haven't gotten that far?
Interactive map shows risk of severe weather 3 days from today - i.e. Monday. To read NOAA’s detailed forecast discussion for any area, open the map, click/tap inside any of the large red-outlined areas and then follow the link.

The are *many* more streamgages that the map can display. A lot of them will show a graph of water level but do not have defined levels for “moderate” and “major" flood. If you need help turning on that overlay layer, please read the “Map tips”. That link is in the upper left corner of the map.

It's like "stalled front" roulette tonight, hope all are lucky and it keeps moving and does not stall as forecast (wherever it stalls is bound to get pounded, and that is where the highest rainfall numbers will be). #SevereWx
