The worst effects of the #storm were felt in the central part of #NorthCarolina, where tens of thousands of people were without #power & at least 2 #tornadoes were confirmed, authorities said. As of early Monday, no fatalities or injuries had been reported.

#OrangeCounty, which includes #ChapelHill, declared a state of #emergency Sunday night, saying in a statement that “numerous water rescues & evacuations are underway in low-lying areas.”

"This weekend tornadoes ravaged the land, killing at least 27 people in Missouri and Kentucky and two in Virginia, right after DOGE took a chainsaw to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and its National Weather Service, and the literal day after Trump fired FEMA’s director, after that guy said FEMA was unprepared for storms. Trump had already previously frozen FEMA’s funds."
