@openmobile graphene has had leadership issues, I agree. I believe that the person in question has stepped back from leadership. Regardless, it was more down to hardware for me (I was strongly considering getting a pixel 9a also), but I was leaning towards fairphone and graphene doesn't support it so that was out. /e/ while their implementation is admirable it was too iOS-like in it's look. #iodeos is french so as I am Irish I could #buyEU but in #foss it shouldn't matter and #calyxos is a (...)

So 12 hours with #IodeOS maybe a bit early for feedback. But I'm thrilled. Everything is running. Unlike #eOS I have Android 15 and #seedvault is running. I had to set up a #ntfy server (hello #uberspace) so #moshidon (#fdroid) pushes, but that's not bad.
I know there are even freer #androids out there, but for me it's a mix of privacy, simplicity and a whole lot of good feeling.
Also important: it has to run on the #fairphone5, because I specifically bought it for sustainability.

I just bought a second Pixel 7 after starting with #IodeOS on the first one when switching from iOS. This device now was set up with #grapheneos following the hints on #kuketzblog. I have set up a private profile with Google play and Banking etc. in it. Banking app working or not varies, so you will have to try. Its less comfortable than stock android/iOS, but worth the effort! I'll stick to graphene. My son stays on iode ;-)

So.. I'm back on #iodéOS.
It's OK except location not working. I don't know why.
I can't install #e/os because.. Don't know yet, but I'll dig in to it after work. I think I have to install #stockrom first and go from there. It might be and security patch problem.

Easiest would be get Location working with iode, but this seems to be weird problem that no one else is having.

Interesting but frustrating

Yes. Now that I have my #degoogled phone fully operational, and all together managing to remove from Google, it's scary how depended I've become of their system, I have energy to start to waste my time on social networks again.
I did move from #iodéOS to #e/os and #murena there's not really any big difference, but for reason unknown to me, and to anyone I asked, the battery life was really bad with iode and I didn't find any fix.

So E/os it's now on. And I have been very happy with this.

Transition from Google has been big, as said I've been using Google stuff alit. And "surprisingly" google doesn't support that transition well.

#Iodeos seems OK. After I realised how to do the installation, there was, to me one missing part in the iodes own manual. But after that, it was really easy.
Battery drain is high do.. But maybe it's just something that need little tinkering if I don't find any solution, then I'll probably jump to e/os since I need more battery than I currently have.. It's like half of #fairphone original os gives.

But it feels good to have #degoogled phone.. And it was nice that it was so easy to do, so thank you Fairphone and Iode.

Now I have to start to see where all I have used gmail to register to start to move it to another or delete it completely.

Nonnih. Ny on Fairphone 4 asennettuna #iodeos olihan tuo vähän työläämpää oli ku luvattiin, tai sitten kyse on vaan siitä, että en nukkunut viimeyönä.
Mutta puhlutin on #degoogled. Seuraavaksi aattelin alkaa kattoon mihin kaikkeen oon gmailin sitonut, että pääsen senkin sulkemaan.

Mistä tuli mieleen, onko mitää google keeping tapasta tarjota? Siitä molen aina tykänny.

Fragen:
- ich bräuchte eine "family-link" ähnliche App/Funktion. also nicht parental control als Filter/Jugendschutz sondern Medien/Handyzeit-Begrenzung. weiß da jemand was? Sinn und Unsinn wäre jetzt nicht die Frage.

- und Smartphone: irgendwie finde ich die Idee Googlefrei sein zu wollen und dann Google Pixel zu verwenden widersprüchlich. aber gibt es da bessere und günstige Alternativen außer Fairphone?

Vermeide es, dein Smartphone mit US-Diensten wie Google oder Apple zu verbinden. Setze stattdessen auf offene, datenschutzorientierte Betriebssysteme wie GrapheneOS oder iodéOS, die ohne vorinstallierte Google-Spy-Apps auskommen und dir mehr Kontrolle über deine Daten ermöglichen. Auch LineageOS oder CalyxOS sind eingeschränkt empfehlenswerte Alternativen, wenn du Google meiden möchtest.

Smartphone, auf dessen Display eine Faust (Freiheit) abgebildet ist.

@toaskoas Ja, ich habe mich für #iodeOS entschieden. #GrapheneOS hatte ich in der engeren Wahl, aber entscheidend war, dass ich neben meinem eigenen auch ein sicheres Handy für mein Kind einrichten wollte. Das ist mit iode sehr gut und sicher umsetzbar, auch für ambitionierte Laien wie mich 😉
Für mich war das der Umstieg von #iOS auf Android vor wenigen Wochen, ich habe es nicht bereut! Außer NFC Bezshlfunktion ist alles möglich, was ich brauche.
