Which of these smartphone OSes do you think is more secure currently? For whatever definition of "secure" feels right to you.
Some options have multiple variants, please vote based on the most secure variant you know of.
@openmobile graphene has had leadership issues, I agree. I believe that the person in question has stepped back from leadership. Regardless, it was more down to hardware for me (I was strongly considering getting a pixel 9a also), but I was leaning towards fairphone and graphene doesn't support it so that was out. /e/ while their implementation is admirable it was too iOS-like in it's look. #iodeos is french so as I am Irish I could #buyEU but in #foss it shouldn't matter and #calyxos is a (...)
@openmobile as someone who has recently ordered (awaiting delivery) of a #FairPhone5 what made you choose #IodeOS vs #calyxos ? I ask as I am considering both for my new phone

Update:
#CalyxOS, whatever the latest version is.
I think the proper quick toggles were removed from Android around version 12 (so 3-4 years ago?)
Now they are big, space-wasting buttons, and you don't even have wifi and bluetooth toggles anymore.
Luckily, CalyxOS has restored the proper wifi toggle, but the bluetooth button still requires an extra tap to turn bluetooth on/off.
It's a dark pattern from Google to make sure you leave wifi and bluetooth on at all times for whatever kind of scanning/wardriving system they have going on.
It’s unfortunate that @calyxos cannot replicate this feature, it would be awesome!
#Google funds this #EU think tank to put out policy papers saying #DigitalMarketsAct will break their lovely #PlayProtect scare screens, making us all less safe and "it require[s] Google to allow developers to insert links inside their Play Store apps".

As I've always said in relation to the #DMA, let @fdroidorg compete on trustworthiness. I'd love to see this think thank include analysis malware rates of #CalyxOS with #FDroid and compare that to #GooglePlay #security
Heliboard was a fork of another FOSS keyboard (OpenBoard, I think) which seems to be a fork of the Lineage fork of the AOSP keyboard.
The only thing this AOSP keyboard (on #CalyxOS) is missing vs. heliboard from what i can tell is the T9 switch for the nunpad, and the option to use the google proprietary glide typing library.
#TIL the stock #AOSP / #LineageOS / #CalyxOS keyboard actually has an #emoji mode!
Its in settings (long press the comma!)
@1br0wn Yes indeed, it would be great to have a community controlled version of #AOSP. The hard part is that Google still is the largest contributor to Android by a large margin. The ROM projects have started to work together, but not enough to get community control. The #CalyxOS team has put quite a bit of effort into trying to get this idea going. The key would be to get companies to switch to a community-controlled version, e.g. Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei, Oppo, etc.
@arstechnica - the Pixel line's most appealing feature is certainly not surveillance tech like Gemini, but rather that you can flash a variety of privacy respecting Android ROMs over what Google ships.

I'm glad that I have a Google Pixel 8a and not a older model. There have been many reports of Google Pixels exploding! It's horrendous. I would strongly recommend against buying anything older than the Pixel 8 series.
Disclaimer: I'm not a expert and haven't deeply researched this topic, but I considered it important enough to give everyone a warning.

I don't remember it being as annoying on #iPhone, TBH. The phone call would always be at the very top of the notification shade (IIRC), and would be highlighted green or something.
At least on the #Android build I'm on, the phone call is either tiny, or just not listed in the notification shade at all. When you're on the lockscreen, you must get out of the notification shade to answer the phone.
When your phone is unlocked, you have to use the notification shade to get to the call (and it's not prominent!!), because opening the phone app JUST OPENS THE PHONE APP, and doesn't take you to your call at all.
It might just be an #AOSP thing or possibly just a #CalyxOS thing, I don't know.
I'll have to test it now, I'm curious.
