#introduction greetings all, I'm a Berlin-based Italian/Australian from Sydney who arrived in Berlin to finish a doctoral research project 10 years ago and never left.

Currently I'm working as a Senior Software Engineer at #GitLab, an open source DevOps platform, after stints at #ThoughtWorks, #Rasa, and #TravisCI. I owe my career to the awesome humans of the Berlin ruby community, and to all my colleagues along the way.

I like taking photos, reading books, and watching TV.

Strongly considering moving the django-tastypie #github repository to #gitlab. Partly to not be on github, but partly to be able to use gitlab-ci instead of #TravisCI.

The last few releases (compatibility updates to match Django versions) have been relatively simple to implement, but then an extra 2-4 weeks of fighting with travis to get tests to pass. This would be a lot easier and go a lot faster if travis had a mechanism for ssh'ing into a build container.

Wow, don't know what to say…

You know TravisCI? This awesome german company that provides an entire build infrastructure for free software projects on GitHub? Their various of their engineers are walking up to termination letters after the company was acquired by Idera around a month ago.

Was just introduced to the #travisAlums hashtag. That's how to destroy a great company.

Yeah, that's nice. But if you look at other sources, this sounds like a really harsh acquisition. If they start off by firing everyone who has deep knowledge of the product, it makes me worry about the future of #TravisCI. I'll be looking into replacing it with #GitLabCI on the projects I'm involved in. From what I understand GitLab CI now integrates with Github(0), so it would be an option even for the projects that are still hosted there.

> So apparently Travis CI is being strip-mined immediately after their acquisition by Idera. Sorry, I mean after "joining the Idera family"
