Irgendwann nach der Nacht, seltsam verkatert und verspannt und noch im Begriff, die Flügel erst einmal wieder zu strecken, wie es der Rahmen gegebener Beweglichkeit eben zulässt. Asphalt unter den Füßen, der eigenen Schatten ist schneller als das Selbst, Häuser schlafen noch und nur langsam erwärmt sich der neue Tag. Vor dem ersten Kaffee, wortlos und unfertig. My plan was to run away and hide for a few hours (under the guise of “doing laundry”), so I could get some quiet time. Alas, I am not as good a hider as I thought.

Zwischen Wachen und Schlaf: Ein einzelner Vogel singt den Tag herbei im Baum vor den offenen Fenstern. Wenige Sterne, gesehen nur aus den Augenwinkeln. Die Welt wirkt heute heller als sonst, aber die Quelle dieses Lichts lässt sich nicht ausmachen, dazu wäre es notwendig, aufzustehen. Und gerade fehlt dafür noch die Motivation. Dann rufen Glocken die siebte Stunde aus, ein Bus rollt hinter den Dächern stadteinwärts, fremde Stimmen gähnen hörbar und irgendwie ist Gähnen immer ansteckend. Also dann doch: Kaffee, kaltes Wasser, Brötchen. Dem Morgen Möglichkeiten lassen, während das Haus langsam wieder lauter wird. Habt es mild heute!

When you go to get the sewing tin and end up with a chocolate tin.

Spent some time with the Cardaparents. When I came home I took a short walk.

Part of the route back included one of our many trails. The thistles are out, much to Buzzarella's dellight. Unsure if it counts as bloomsrolling, but I'll tag it as such

Strained and clarified the chicken stock I made last night. Rufus decided he needed to be in the pic.

Edit to add: The stock was made with some freezer burnt thighs I excavated. So ,in the spirit of waste-not-want-not, I turned it into that golden stock, along with a few chicken backs, carrot, onion, celery, bell peppers, tomatoes, parsley and coriander. It's now my favourite chicken stock combination.

Spent the day in the kitchen cooking and baking, while the local wildlife patrolled the yard.

Spent a long day in the kitchen. Baked scones, Made Aubergine Masala (and no, the smoke alarms did not go off), and Pork Vindaloo (from scratch). No decent photos of anything (maybe tomorrow), but Pork vindaloo starts with dried chillies.
