There's a simple solution to all of this. The for-profit, publicly traded corporation must go the way of the wind. Non-profits and cooperatives can fill the gap, *without* exploitation.

If only there were some way to avoid this outcome. Like, a business model that didn't harvest wealth from every transaction between workers and consumers and dump it into some oligarch's bank account. A business model where any money taken from the community went right back to that same community. Maybe a community owned business? A business owned by the workers and/or consumers?
“They say, ‘We tried socialism; it didn’t work. We tried… the market model; it didn’t work. What are we supposed to do now?’ ” Stiglitz said. “I think it’s really important to say there are some other models out there.”

“When people feel excluded in social and economic terms, they also often feel excluded in political terms and that can lead to very short-term as well as long-term adversarial outcomes,” he added.
"They were united in their beliefs that co-ops can provide a voice for citizens who feel ignored. That could be an antidote to the anti-system outrage associated with the vote in Great Britain to abandon the European Union and other nationalistic movements, they suggested."
Hi folks, we have received feedback about the pricing for our docs.coop instance hosting.
We have decided to drop the price to 30 GBP per month for a small Docs instance.
This comes with an Single Sign On oauth server (such as Keycloak or Authentik).
We think this represents excellent value and will hopefully be enough to support us making this exciting open source Google docs competitor available for the people.
We can offer additional paid support on top of this to integrate further into your existing infrastructure.
Unlock collaborative document editing without the oligarchs.
pls

Second option: we will setup a demo instance which we will use for testing and we can provide multiple user account.
However this be wiped nightly and won’t have any expectation of uptime and will also be shared with other interested folks.
It would be great if you could make a one off donation of 70 GBP to contribute towards the costs of us spinning this up.

Wow 210 boosts and 196 favs. Thank you all so kindly
We had some enquiries in via email and we finally settled on some initial offerings for this beta phase of the project:
First is an instance of your own on an EU based server, which we maintain for you with the latest updates.
You get full access to everything and essentially unlimited users and the option to use external oauth Single Sign On.
This will be 50 GBP per month (with a minimum commitment of 3 months). This is the longer term option that is most supportive of this initiative.
We don't think we can continue this pricing indefinitely so in a slightly y sales pitch, we're guaranteeing this for our first 10 or so customers.
On this month-long journey I met with and interviewed six workers coops, five of which are tech-related. They are vastly different, each operating within their unique context.

I met with the workers' union which has Denmarks first 30-hours collective bargaining agreement at/with a tech workers coop.

I met with two data collectives; democratic organizations which among other things run digital services (matrix, nextcloud, etc) for its members.
