I just tried out the new video description feature in #SeeingAI. The video that I used was when I was letting off some Roman candles back in July. Right now you can describe only 10 videos a day, which is decent considering that this just dropped.

The new release of Seeing AI for Android can now describe videos up to 10 videos daily as of now. Share an MP4 file with Seeing AI, and hear it described, scene-by-scene.
Other features include:
Recognizing PDF documents.
After tapping "More Info" to get a rich description of an image, you can now ask questions on the same screen.
On the Product channel, both barcodes and Enhanced QR codes can now be recognized at the same time.

Yesterday my Dell work machine started to make "boiling-kettle" noises with its coolers instead of shutting down. My wife was almost asleep, and I didn't want to bother her. so I opened #SeeingAI. I was sure I woulnd't manage to locate the screen correctly, I'm pretty bad at it. But I literally only waved the phone in the direction of the laptop, and immediately it said: "Updating your Dell firmware, please don't power down your system". Awesome!
That said, I'm excited about technology progress now.

Hi all. Hoping there are some #blind #linux users out there that can help me out. I'm using an old computer, not the one I mentioned in my previous posts, but a different one, and #Orca isn't speaking. I originally installed #Ubuntu Mate, but Orca was freezing a lot, so I switched my #DesktopEnvironment to #KDEPlasma. It seemed like a lot of things were inaccessible, though, so I decided to try #Gnome. I installed Gnome, chose GDM as the display manager, and restarted the computer. Now, Orca works on the login screen but nowhere else. It seems to be running, and when I run "orca --replace" in the terminal, I get an error about something only working with X11. I've been able to tell that by scanning the screen with #SeeingAI on my #iPhone. I need to get Orca up and running again so I can use my computer. What's the best way to do this, preferably without sighted help, as my mom and stepdad aren't good with #technology.

I’m not blind, so I don’t know much, but this app looks pretty powerful and rather useful. The only thing that worries me is the company behind it (Microsoft)... A free application from BigTech does not usually mean anything good.

oh yeah, I can add to that, that just because we have apps like #BeMyEyes, #Aira, and #SeeingAI, should not give developers the excuse to be lax on keeping their sites and/or apps accessible either. You need to do a bit more than using automated development software, or just throwing some haphazard overlay over it, thinking that that's going to make things not only accessible, but easily useable. That's lazy development, as far as I'm concerned.

Much expected announcement! New app added to the Accessible Apps directory by Editorial Staff: Seeing AI. Accessible. Seeing AI is a free app that narrates the world around you. Designed with and for the blind and low vision community. accessibleandroid.com/app/seei #Android #App #AI #SeeingAI

Alice was on the London Eye today, as one of her school friend’s decided to have their birthday party on it, and she took this picture which I ran through #SeeingAI and #BeMyAI because I really like both descriptions, so one of them has been included in the alt-text, and the other is threaded as it wouldn’t fit within the character limit. I think they bring something unique to the table in each case.
