A major power outage struck southeastern France on Saturday morning, threatening to jeopardize the Cannes Film Festival’s closing celebrations, including the much-anticipated Palme d’Or ceremony.

Police said they have opened an investigation into possible arson.

A major power outage in Spain and Portugal disrupts transport and communication.

Spain and Portugal were hit by a major power outage on Monday knocking out subway networks, phone lines, traffic lights and ATM machines.

The Portuguese Cabinet convened an emergency meeting at the prime minister’s residence, and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez visited Red Eléctrica to follow efforts at restoring power to the grid.

Smol #LTE #antenna on top of a feeder pillar in an #electricity #substation - this is linked to a #modem / #router and #SCADA / #PLC equipment that monitors the status and power usage on the low voltage (230/400V) network - it works well enough (and has battery backup) so when there was a #powercut I didn't even need to call 105 - UK Power Networks already knew the area was off supply! #infrastructure #Suffolk

Breakfast, day three without power - due to be back on by Midnight tonight according to the SPEN website.
Although not normally used as a toaster, this is the stove we cook on everyday (even when the power is on) and we are perfectly safe. The rest of the house is freezing, but this room is nicely warm.
