30 high value #bicycles have been #stolen from a #bikeshop in Rushmere St Andrew (a suburb just outside #Ipswich in East #Suffolk) by sophisticated #criminals who disabled outside #CCTV and cut #Openreach cables (to prevent #alarms and CCTV activating).
The cracked #petrol tanks in #Surrey SE #England which have contaminated #ThamesWater supplies have also led to fuel finding its way into #Openreach cable ducts, with a potential risk of explosion (there are still many analogue circuits, these carry 48V DC and 100V AC (when the telephone is ringing) and in some situations could cause sparks..

How resilient the new technology during power cuts
Shetland last year, had some properties without power for up to six days.
The replacement “Voice over Internet Protocol” (VoIP) system only has a resilience of 1 hour

I’m pretty sure it’s *not* a standard BT dropwire, but the insulation on it appears to be newer than 1970s era.
Where there’s a cut end of cable it looks like it’s got four insulated cores, but I’ve got an uneducated eye, so could be wrong.

as the test result.
Recently six, yes SIX Open Reach vans turned up on my road to open the shiny green box of internet goodness.
There was quite a bit of conversation among the men and poking of cables and I thought at long last speeds above 70Mb in the area was going to be a reality for my broadband connection.
This went on for most of the day with vans coming and going and yet here I am still stuck at 70Mb days later... Maybe I need to wait for 7 vans next time hey.
