2. Another noticeable difference is that the Sega CD version tells you to "PRESS START" to begin the game. The Monkey Island has been moved to accommodate that, which I think slightly hurts the composition of the scene.

The intro doesn't even proceed to the lookout scene on its own. It just loops. When that happens, the music cuts off pretty awkwardly. That could be a ScummVM issue, but it was awkward when I tried it in an emulator too.

1. About a month ago, I picked up a second-hand copy of The Secret of Monkey Island for the Sega CD. But I haven't sat down and played it yet. Time to fix that. I want to see how it differs from the other versions I've encountered.

There will be spoilers. You have been warned.

Right away, it uses a different Lucasfilm logo than the DOS version. In fact, I think it's the same one as the Amiga version uses, but I don't have that one.

The Macintosh version of Maniac Mansion, i.e. the one included as an Easter Egg in Day of the Tentacle, running in the development version of ScummVM.

There is not yet any user friendly way of setting this up, but it's encouraging to see that the Macintosh GUI seems to work as it should. I'm sure there are bugs, but there's plenty of time to worry about those.

Finished a rundown of the differences between Zak McKracken's Commodore 64 and DOS V1 versions. To make this I actually played both versions side by side on the same PC, one in DOSbox and the other in the VICE C64 emulator.

@mixnmojo It's so disappointing that one of the versions sold on GOG (and Steam?) is still cracked/broken.

"We protect these rights so that we can continue to provide quality entertainment that measures up to the standards that our audience has come to love and expect." -- Disney anti-piracy statement

(I wonder which "abandonware" site Disney pirated the game from.)
