Hey folks, do i know anyone that might know someone with a 20foot shipping container for sale on the island?

We're back in our digs in Shanklin.
It's been a very pleasant day. The buses worked out extremely well.
The bus services on the island with names (eg Island Coaster) don't accept old people's bus passes, which is fair enough as they are scenic, seasonal buses and the day tickets allow travel on all named routes for 24 hours.
(And frankly, if you can afford to stay on the island, you can afford to pay for the bus. #unpopularopinion)
Deeply unimpressed by the way the Needles Attraction has been developed, but The National Trust are doing a good job of looking after the Battery and the headland.
I normally enjoy bus trips, but 90 minutes was beyond my limit on winding, hilly country roads!
The bus drivers are seriously heroic.
Pizza for tea I think.
#Reform councillor Caroline Gladwin issued warning notices for #hazardous conditions in rental property
Councillor on #IsleOfWight’s #housing committee was issued warning notices over the state of flat she rented out
#Councillor #Gladwin blames a previous #tenant for damaging the property without her knowledge

Petition: Isle of Wight Ferries - ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
#IsleOfWight #Ferries have reached this stage:
- Beyond a joke
- We as passengers are being used as Cash cows
- Business is affected
- Tourism is affected
To get on & off the Island is beyond expensive & cannot be afforded by many people
Reliability of ferries is abysmal. Seems every day there is a news report of ANOTHER reason why ferries are delayed or not running

#IsleOfWight Tesco turn shoppers away due to jammed door
#Profit motived #IOW #ferries sub-standard services
“All I was told (by #Tesco) was that the doors were jammed, so they need an engineer from the mainland.”
“Ferries are an issue (always) obviously because of the Isle of Wight Festival.”
There’s barely a ‘normal’ day when IOW ferries don’t have failures causing cancellations or delays

#IsleOfWight councillor: Military Road’s Cliff Waring System failed over decade ago
She was prompted to act after noticing the flashing cliff warning lights along Military Road have not been operational for years
She was told that the early warning system installed in 1997 became failed sometime before 2013
These were never reinstated under the #Highways #PFI contract, it has been revealed.
@fesshole Parking on the pavement has become the main sport on the #isleofwight. They can't help themselves even when there's absolutely no need to do it.
Glad to see all the little details are being spotted and enjoyed. If you haven’t watched it yet, you’re missing out on a beautiful rendering of Godshill Model Village, amongst other things.

Wow, Australian GM Bobby Cheng is top seed at the Isle of Wight chess tournament in the south of England. The Isle of Wight is just off the Hampshire coast, the county where I was born. And I have played Bobby a few times here in Australia.
Small world!

I've now booked the accommodation for a July break on the Isle of Wight.
I've got 4 nights in Shanklin and we'll spend a couple of nights in Worthing on the way there, and a night in my London Club on the way home.
The intention is to go by train & bus (plus ferry and a Hovercraft) as this would stitch together an extension of last year's public transport trip along the south coast.
The plans have enough flexibility to allow me to drive if I really have to. (Driving would probably ruin most of the enjoyment and with the cost of ferries & parking might be more expensive, and we'd miss the hovercraft)
It was odd to my mind that the available self-catering options on the island were more expensive than modest hotel accommodation for my dates.
Got to look forward to a bit of sun eventually!
