My colleagues at the EBI have published a paper about the 2023 BioModels Model of the Year competition:

Now published in Peer Community Journal, Mathematical and #Computationalbiology section: An approximate likelihood method reveals ancient gene flow between human, chimpanzee and gorilla https://doi.org/10.24072/pcjournal.359
I am looking for a new position in computational biology/bioinformatics preferably in #academia in the #USA.
I am an experienced Computational Biologist with eight years of post-PhD experience in applying computational methods across diverse domains, from molecular modeling to #highdimensional and #machinelearning based single-cell flow/mass cytometry and serum proteomics data analysis.
Any leads would be helpful.
In March 2021, @PLOS #ComputationalBiology started mandating #OpenCode. Good move.
https://theplosblog.plos.org/2023/09/code-policy-interview/
'"If the research process included the creation of custom code, the authors were required to make it available during the peer review assessment & make it public upon…publication…At the end of the year-long trial period, code sharing had risen from 53%…to 87%…The journal decided to make code sharing a permanent [policy]. Today, the sharing rate is 96%."

Hi there!
I am a biologist working in the University of Antioquia, in Medellín, Colombia. I am mostly involved in #ComputationalBiology and #Bioinformatics, but I enjoy and work in other subjects too:
- Molecular Biology
- Genetics
- Dynamical systems (ODEs)
- Systems Biology
- Microbiology
I believe in #OpenScience and I could say that #Linux and free software changed my life.
Currently I am promoting the field of Computational Biology in Colombia: https://biologia-computacional.github.io/
Open position at the large university hospital #CHUV in #Lausanne a great opportunity for early career researchers in an exciting field:
Tenure-track Assistant Professor in Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning for Biomedicine

The efficient transmission of signals within cells depends on very selective protein-protein interactions (PPIs) between binding partners. In Science Signaling, Malinverni and Babu devised an algorithm based on sequence analysis that simulated gene duplication and mutational events to design new PPIs. This approach could be used for the future design of new interacting partners and PPIs with therapeutic and synthetic biology applications. https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/scisignal.abm4484 #science #ComputationalBiology
