WELCOME to BAD MOVIE CLUB!!

In 2025, I’m trying to watch ALL of the ‘amazing’ films from FULL MOON, so I’m choosing three a month from the list. If you want to watch them and discuss them, you can find most of them for free these days on sites like #tubi and #plex. Expand this post to see this month’s selections.

Use hashtag #MastodonBadMovieClub (or #MBMC) and remember: The only BAD movie is a BORING movie. These #FullMoonFeatures films are NOT boring.

So, I just watched 'HELL HOUSE LLC' on #tubi and it was really good. I recommend going in completely blind. No trailers or images other than this one and enjoy the found-footage style of horror. Some people don't. I get that, but it works for this one. If you know what it's all about, please don't spoil it here. 🖤

#Tubi? So, isn’t the description more like, “Paul Atreides arrives on [Call GEICO now and receive 15% off on car insurance] Arrakis after his [New, improved Preparation H!] father accepts the [Apple Intelligence. Only from Apple] stewardship of the dangerous [Coke. It’s the real thing] planet. However, after a betrayal, [Toyota, if you love gasoline] chaos ensues as forces clash [Microsoft. Hand over your money] to control the spice melange, a precious [This Bud’s For You] resource.”?

I watched ‘PUPPET MASTER’ for the #MBMC and I immediately remembered some moments in this from my youth. I know I’ve seen this a LONG time ago. It’s weird to think they made FIFTEEN of these movies. I’m pretty sure I’ve only seen the first one, but I plan on watching more. This is a FUN movie. I get why it got so popular over the years and had so many sequels. Oh, plus I watched it on #tubi with the @TheRealElvira enhancements. 😍

The #NewYearsEve coverage on #Tubi from ABC has been phenomenal. Lots of retrospective coverage, you can actually see the live music performances, no babbling hosts like Ryan Seacrest, and the countdowns are straightforward. Also, no ads.

10/10, good job Tubi and ABC

Some of the most political, character-driven, and certainly intelligent Star Trek is found in #STDS9. Its mix of what it takes to build a new system of governance — even when under an outside group’s guidance — is fascinating to watch, as is its view of humanity.

Yes, it was SF, but that was always the box it came in, not its contents. People are what make great stories, and that’s what this show had in surplus: great people.

Highly recommended.

Smart TVs are like “a digital Trojan Horse” in people’s homes

48-page report urges FTC, FCC to investigate connected TV industry #data #harvesting.

Unprecedented tracking techniques aimed at pleasing advertisers have resulted in #connected #TVs (CTVs) being a "privacy nightmare," according to Jeffrey Chester, report co-author and CDD executive director, resulting in calls for stronger regulation.

The 48-page report, "How TV Watches Us: Commercial Surveillance in the Streaming Era"
cites Ars Technica, other news publications, trade publications, blog posts, and statements from big players in streaming
—from #Amazon to #NBCUniversal and #Tubi, to #LG, #Samsung, and #Vizio.

It provides a detailed overview of the various ways that streaming services and streaming hardware target viewers in newfound ways that the CDD argues pose severe #privacy #risks.

The nonprofit composed the report as part of efforts to encourage regulation.

Today, the CDD sent letters to the FTC, Federal Communications Commission (FCC), California attorney general, and California Privacy Protection Agency (CPPA), regarding its concerns.
