Shitty, reactionary decisions like this would turn me off so badly and seriously make me question their judgement in maintaining their distro. It's safe to say I'm a fan. I'm looking forward to spending some time with this new release to get to know it better. It looks like there's some interesting new features. I'm not sure what I think of replacing Firefox with Brave, but it is what it is.
