My favourite record from the Jamaican archives these days is BABYLON FALL by Junior Ross & The Spears. The album from 2018 brings together recordings that Tapper Zukie produced from the mid to late 70s. The line-up of the band is awesome! It includes Sly & Robbie, Augustus Pablo and Vin Gordon on instruments and Prince Alla on backing vocals.

In short, get your arse to your trusted record dealer and pick up the disc!

Two and a half years after the death of Lee "Scratch" Perry, producer Daniel Boyle has released "King Perry", the last studio album by the crazy grandfather of #Roots #Reggae #Dub. The sound comes out of the speakers as dubby trip-hop, which gives the goodbye to the former master of Black Ark Studios a contemporary tribute. Also on board are Greentea Peng, Shaun Ryder, Rose Waite and Tricky, among others. Many thanks to all involved, thank you Lee for this wonderful album.

My first favourite album of the year was "Zero Grace" by Liam Bailey a few weeks ago. As with Liam's brilliant neo-reggae album "Ekundayo", Leon Michels is back on board, which could be one reason why the sound of the new album gets under your skin again, unlike the previous album "Enfant Terrible". Although the #reggae parts have become smaller in favour of more #blues and #soul it still doesn't detract from the whole thing!

You just have to listen to it, believe me.

When it comes to the classics of #Roots #Reggae #Dub, the #MightyTwo delight me with their album series "African Dub All-Mighty", which is no coincidence that they belong to the Olympus of the genre. A must for all riddim enthusiasts!
My favourite is Chapter 3.
