So, a few weeks into using my newly #Ubuntu powered mid-2011 #Mac and I'm still very much enjoying it. Knew that the RAM on the machine was a bit wanting (even still, the OS runs fast). So I opened up another same model Mac I have to repurpose some RAM. Discovered that I've been running the Ubuntu machine on only 4gb and the other Mac on 16. So now the Ubuntu machine has 12gb and continues to feel like I've purchased a brand new computer.

After four and a half hours and various roadblocks (including learning how to use the Terminal in ways I’d never before), I finally got a bootable USB drive for Ubuntu to work on this old-ass Mac and [insert gif of Orson Krennic saying “oh, it’s beautiful!”]

Is it worth installing AMDGPU PRO driver on Linux so I get access to AMD VCE for encoding videos on OBS, Kdenlive and Handbrake?

So, I run Pop!_OS #Linux with the Cinnamon desktop environment (it came with the default Gnome). I'm tempted to give KDE Plasma a try. The question is: Is having three desktop environments going to cause some funk with the OS?

When I was 16, I tried Ubuntu for fun and it was neat, but I didn't really get it. For some reason I really want to try Linux again. This next month (or more) I am going to give it ago. Does anyone have any tips or resources? I am going with Linux Mint.

Will gerade #linuxmint auf einem #lenovo #t530 installieren über einen USB-Stick. Bin vorgegangen, wie im offiziellen Guide vorgegeben. Die Installation läuft durch, ohne Fehlermeldung - aber anschließend wird nur das Boot-Menü gezeigt und ein starten in Mint klappt nicht.

Tipps, wo ich Fehlerquellen finden könnte? Oder Online-Quellen, die helfen?

Why is lbry desktop app such a mess? I've tried updating it through gui but it failed and said the same version is already installed. Then i updated flatpaks through terminal and it still complains about the update. The mobile app shows more videos so it would be nice if the desktop version worked as well as the mobile version.

Thinking about attempting to conquer my "installing Linux post UEFI and SecureBoot" fears and try installing Linux for dual-boot.
