@amvinfe And then they will have the nerve to come back to you for more help on another story in the future, right?

I once counted how many news outlets reported/repeated something I had reported exclusively on my site. Only 1 out of 12 actually linked to my site or even credited it in any way as the source for what they reported. A second one linked to one of the sources that hadn't linked to me but had just repeated it.

Pffft........

If journalists and reporters are only on #Twitter, then the only public opinions they see are right-wing opinions. Between the user audience, what the algorithm promotes, and the owner's messaging, what they see is entirely right-wing.

That means most of western journalism is now captured by right-wing messaging and control.

"Never wrestle with a pig. You just get dirty and the pig enjoys it." - Anonymous

People calling themselves "journalists" are wrestling with a pig (the Shitbird site), they are getting dirty, and the pig is enjoying it.

I've read the article below, and what I take out of it is that the vast majority of journalism is bread and circuses. As bread and circuses, they are quite happy to stay on the Shitbird site, because what they peddle is entertainment and not actually journalism.

It is really not *hard* to have a *real* presence in the Fediverse. If a news outlet or a journalist has no presence in the Fediverse, that is because THEY DO NOT CARE to be here.

Nothing else.

But if what they peddle is bread and circuses, maybe they should stay there.

The VergeWhy journalists can’t quit TwitterBy Casey Newton

OK, I need help, let's see if Mastodon can provide it. Are there any reporters who have covered sensitive stories about trauma that would have time to chat briefly with me about how best to convey a complicated story involving un-verified facts.

I'm trying to balance the need to be clear about what's known and unknown to my audience with a desire not to be insensitive or cause further harm to a possible victim of violence. #journalism #JournalisticEthics #writing #trans
