I'm happy to share that I'll be speaking at PyCon Italia 2025
I'll show you how to implement a semantic search with Python, Django and PostgreSQL
See you in Bologna from 29 May 2025

Discover how to use Microsoft.Extensions.VectorData to implement semantic search with Qdrant and Azure AI Search. Let's explore how semantic search is reshaping data interpretation by focusing on meaning instead of just keywords. #SemanticSearch #DotNet #AI
Does anyone know of an #OpenAccess full-text #PDF #search engine/tool using which I can search for relevant PDFs from a self-hosted #database?
Context: we have a curated database of #research articles but so far our search capability has been limited to tagged keywords or title and abstract field search only. We'd like to be able to search the entire PDF.
Side note: I know that PDFs are not a great way to store scientific information. I'd prefer not to use a proprietary #LLM if possible

I'm excited to announce Semantra: an open source multi-tool for semantic search https://github.com/freedmand/semantra
- Launch a local search engine over text and PDF files
- Search by concepts/meaning
- Refine results via tagging and adding/subtracting queries

I'm working on an open source semantic search command-line tool — coming soon!
It analyzes text files you specify and launches a local web server to search them semantically — based on meaning and not exact word matches. #ai #nlp #semanticsearch
#LLMs like #ChatGPT can do a halfway decent job of #SemanticSearch sometimes in #mathematics. I was hoping in this prompt that the AI would be able to recognize Kummer's theorem from the description, but it provided a related result (Legendre's formula) from which Kummer's theorem could then be easily located by traditional search engines. (More generally, I can see a role of AI in mathematics in providing an initial approximation to an answer, which one can then refine by more traditional methods.)
Q: What is the next big shift in the customer experience landscape?
A: Voice-activated, multilingual, #SemanticSearch, according to @MaityArpita from @RWSGroup.
