Jan ŽegklitzMalam hebdomadis fīnem dīmicātiōnis Londīniī habuī. Certāvī in London HEMA Open certātiōne in trēs categoriīs (in hōc ordine): acīnacēs, dolō cum pugiōne et ēnsis longus. In acīnace, bis vīcī ac bis victus sum in circulō, cōnficiēns trīcēsimus ante ēlīminātiōnem, quō (meritō) victus sum in gradū prīmō. In dolō cum pugiōne paulum melius pugnāvī - ter vīcī et bis victus sum, cōnficiēns vīcēssimus secundus. Tamen, quia (nimis?) sēro fuit, administrātōrēs sēdecim tantum proeliātōrēs (ā quīnquāgintā octō) in ēlīminātiōnem prōgressī esse statuērūnt. Hm 😕 In ēnse longō plānē stultus fuī. In circulō omnia certāmina vīcī, octus post circulōs fuī, sed, ut proximō annō, victus sum in gradū prīmō ēlīminātiōne 🤦‍♂️ Cūr... I had a bad fencing weekend in London. I competed in the London HEMA Open tournament in three categories (in this order): saber, rapier and dagger, and longsword. In saber I won two and lost two fights in the pool, ending up 30th before elimination, where I lost (deservedly) in the first round. In rapier and dagger I fought a bit better - I won three times, and lost two times, ending up 22nd. However, because it was (too?) late, the organisers decided to let only 16 fighters (out of 58) into the elimination. Hm 😕 In longword I was just simply stupid. Jan ŽegklitzPaenultimā septimānā certātiōnī FechtBerg in Bielsko-Biała in Poloniā interfuī. Diē prīmō certāvimus ēnse longō et ēnse mūcrōnātō cum pugiōne. Cum ēnse longō valdē certābam: in omnēs certāminibus circulī vīcī, deinde in prīmīs tribus certāminibus ēlīminātiōnis quoque vīcī. In certāmine quārtō, quadrantis fīnālis, autem victus sum ā Pavel Dostál et quīntus ad ocāvus fīnīvī. Cum ēnse mūcrōnātō cum pugiōne nōn tam bene certābam: in tōtō in tribus -certāminibus vīcī aequēque in tribus victus sum, quibus ūnum in gradū prīmō ēlīminātiōnis fuit. Diē secundō certātiō turmae cum ēnse longō fuit, cuī ut sodālis turmae Cechiae interfuī. Multō bene certābimus, ūnā tantum turmā - Polonicā - victī sumus, igitur turma nostra secunda fīnīvit. Ultima contentiō acīnacēs fuit, sed in eā pessimē dē omnibus contentibus certābam - duōs tantum certāminibus in circulō vīcī, in trēs victus sum, nōn prōgrediēns in ēlīminātiōnem. The second to the last week I took part in the tournament FechtBerg in Bielsko-Biała in Poland. On the first day we fenced with longsword and rapier with dagger. With the longsword I fought very well: I won all the bouts in the group, and then in first three elimination bouts. However, in the fourth bout, the quarter-final, I lost to Pavel Dostal, and finished 5th to 8th. I did not fight as well with rapier and dagger: in total I won three bouts as well as lost three, one of which was in the first round of elimination. On the second day there was a team longsword tournament in which I participated as a member of the Czech team. We fought very well, only one team - the Polish one - defeated us, therefore our team finished 2nd.
