How messy is #terraform with #gcp?

I'm trying to make a system where #rust worker ingests data of HTTP requests via #cloudrun, and passes them into #bigtable, which uses further ingestion recipe to export the data into #bigquery

I have tried to make a complete terraform declaration for this, but got into permission issues, then I have tried to make a system that generates all the artefacts like service accounts and docker image and then refers to those from terraform builds, but I almost don't see a value of doing it like that.

Does anyone have an example of #cloudrun #cdc? I am new to this and I feel really slow.

genuine question #lazyweb #askfedi #writingcommunity

when writing teenage fiction, how many words in a chapter are:

too few?

too many?

It's all fluid, but currently I have as few as 1800, and as many as 4600. There is sufficient scope to split or combine some of the work that's already been done, without disturbing the natural flow of the material.

(and thinking about density, how many words per page? I have no constraints on the dimensions of the book, or the cost of having it printed)

I remember as a child seeing a documentary about one of the most idiotic projects that the Nazis did:

Some of their senior leadership so firmly believed the Hollow Earth theory that they set up a V2 launcher on a South Pacific island with a view of slingshotting missiles around the Sun and landing them anywhere in Europe or America. It turns out the Sun isn't in the middle of the Earth (who knew?!?) so this didn't work.

It came to mind because another government seems to have a similar attitude to science at the moment.

I can find no online references to this at all. Did the documentary maker make the whole thing up? Did I dream the documentary?

EDIT: we put the "30mm or so of copper" back on (which I had pegged as bluetooth ant) and GPS works now.

Oh #electronics #lazyweb, I have an #askfedi - I'm looking at a garmin gps watch (instinct 2s) it's not getting GPS. We think the GPS antenna has been damaged, thing is I'm not even sure which part is the GPS antenna. There's a couple of things that look like antennas put they're just 30mm or so of copper. I thought a gps antenna hadda be more complicated than that?. Anyone know of a teardown article or vid on garmins, or some tech doco?

Help! #Boot / #GRUB advice:

I have a relatively new laptop. Recently when rebooting it just went to the GRUB bash-like interface rather than booting.

99 times out of 100 when rebooting the laptop doesn't recognize any USB key is plugged in and goes straight to GRUB recovery. #EFI boot sees the drives EFI files though.

1 in 100 times the whole thing boots just fine from either the drive or USB key.

BIOS hard drive diagnostics says it's fine.

Any ideas how to troubleshoot?

Dear #LazyWeb #FediHerd,

with different disasters - both natural and otherwise - on the rise, I am looking for recommendations on a radio receiver that would be well suited (also) for in such occasions.

What I imagine - but if you thought it through better, do let me know - one would need:
- AM, FM, DAB (I imagine internet radio is most fragile)
- battery - either easy replaceable or rechargeable
- also work without batteries
- good quality and sturdy
- portable
- world coverage would be cool

hey, #lazyweb #followerpower : For an event, I want to allow people to easily (scan-a-QR-code easy) join a groupchat to swap text and image messages from their phones.

The scan will be under controlled circumstances (ie: Me showing the QR code to specific persons only), but for obvious reasons I still want to be able to moderate the chat (ie: kickban dickpic-posters and such)

Any suggestions?
