postmodern<p>LabWC's solution is to use a <code>ToggleKeybindings</code> keybinding to temporarily disable all keybindings globally while you use the VM, then re-enable keybindings when your done. This is obviously not optimal if you're constantly switching between VMs and other windows.</p><p><a href="https://github.com/labwc/labwc/issues/810" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">github.com/labwc/labwc/issues/</span><span class="invisible">810</span></a></p><p><a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/labwc" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>labwc</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/virtmanager" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>virtmanager</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/virtviewer" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>virtviewer</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/remoteviewer" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>remoteviewer</span></a></p>
postmodern<p>What solutions do Wayland users use for passing keybindings (ex: Alt-Tab) through to a VM being viewed with <code>virt-viewer</code> or <code>remote-viewer</code> in a Wayland WM? X11 had some kind of special hint to tell the WM to pass all keybindings through to the VM's viewer window. Do you just temporarily disable keybindings while viewing a VM? Is it possible to run <code>virt-viewer</code> or <code>remote-viewer</code> in a separate instance of Wayland/wlroots that only displays that windows and passes all keyboard input to it (e.g. the Wayland equivalent of <code>xinit virt-viewer ... -- :1</code>)?</p><p><a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/virtviewer" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>virtviewer</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/remoteviewer" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>remoteviewer</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/virtmanager" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>virtmanager</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/libvirt" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>libvirt</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/qemu" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>qemu</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/wayland" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>wayland</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/labwc" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>labwc</span></a></p>
postmodern<p>Continuing my LabWC testing. Appears that LabWC or Wayland has issues with not allowing <code>virt-manager</code> to capture keys/mouse when viewing a VM in fullscreen mode. Apparently this was a known <a href="https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/-/merge_requests/2548" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">bug</a> in Gnome/Wayland that was fixed two years ago, but for some reason I'm running into the same issue on labwc 0.7.1 (latest version available on Ubuntu)?</p><p><a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/wayland" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>wayland</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/labwc" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>labwc</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/virtmanager" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>virtmanager</span></a></p>
postmodern<p>Is there some kind of trick to running GNOME applications under LabWC? Whenever I start <code>gnome-terminal</code> or <code>nautilus</code> it causes LabWC (or other wlroots based WM) to start having random freezes/pauses.</p><p><a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/labwc" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>labwc</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/wayland" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>wayland</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/gnome" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>gnome</span></a></p>
postmodern<p>Has anyone had luck running <a href="https://labwc.github.io/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">labwc</a> under QEMU? Getting screen tearing running under Virtio Graphics, but better under QXL. Setting the resolution to the native resolution using wlr-randr seems to slow things down. Also having random freezes when moving my mouse around. Justine SmithiesDecided that using xorg on my dell optiplex 3080 tower under <a href="https://snac.smithies.me.uk?t=freebsd" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#FreeBSD</a> isn't for me although it bought back memories. I have seen how certain software has already become stale by which I mean no updates or bug fixes in a good 4-5 years. So I've switched back to <a href="https://snac.smithies.me.uk?t=wayland" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Wayland</a> which I still use on my <a href="https://snac.smithies.me.uk?t=thinkpad" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#ThinkPAD</a> . But my experience of using twm and xterm have made me go explore <a href="https://snac.smithies.me.uk?t=labwc" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Labwc</a> again with my favourite Wayland terminal Foot. It's a lovely minimal stacking window manager which can be themed using <a href="https://snac.smithies.me.uk?t=openbox" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#OpenBox</a> themes. I have gruvbox dark installed which I quite like. As to what bar I'm going to use ? I'm not sure maybe waybar or sfwbar or even something else ? <a href="https://snac.smithies.me.uk?t=runbsd" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#RunBSD</a><br><br><a href="https://github.com/labwc/labwc" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://github.com/labwc/labwc</a><br>

Justine SmithiesStill playing around with <a href="https://snac.smithies.me.uk?t=labwc" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Labwc</a> and although it's a <a href="https://snac.smithies.me.uk?t=wayland" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Wayland</a> stacking window manager that can tile aka snap to edge it can also be totally configured to work with just the keyboard. I'm pretty impressed so far with what can be achieved. If you liked <a href="https://snac.smithies.me.uk?t=openbox" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#OpenBox</a> then definitely give this a shot as you'll love it.<br>
𝘋𝘪𝘳𝘬<p>I wonder why <a href="https://gts.0x7be.net/tags/gimp3" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>GIMP3</span></a> does not store window positions when running in multi-window mode on <a href="https://gts.0x7be.net/tags/wayland" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Wayland</span></a>. Guess I need to extend my <a href="https://gts.0x7be.net/tags/labwc" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>labwc</span></a> window rules.</p>
Justine SmithiesPlaying around with <a href="https://snac.smithies.me.uk?t=labwc" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Labwc</a> just to get that retro <a href="https://snac.smithies.me.uk?t=openbox" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Openbox</a> feel. Do you use Labwc ? Have you tried it ?<br>Maybe share your thoughts, tips, dot files or screenshots ? <a href="https://snac.smithies.me.uk?t=wayland" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Wayland</a><br><b>I'm not moving from <a href="https://snac.smithies.me.uk?t=riverwm" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#RiverWm</a> I'm just exploring</b><br><br><a href="https://github.com/labwc/labwc" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://github.com/labwc/labwc</a><br>

Too bad, since it’s the only really good and customizable floating WM with not too many dependencies.</p>
