This Is My Glasgow<p>Eyes in a gap in a wall on the Kelvin Walkway in the Kelvin Bridge area of Glasgow. I love the way the plants help to create the illusion of a more complete face emerging from the wall.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/glasgow" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>glasgow</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/kelvinbridge" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>kelvinbridge</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/kelvinwalkway" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>kelvinwalkway</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/eyes" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>eyes</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/streetart" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>streetart</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/glasgowstreetart" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>glasgowstreetart</span></a></p>

This Is My Glasgow<p>Does anyone know the story behind this decorated block (of concrete?) which can be found behind Kelvinbridge Subway Station in Glasgow? This Is My Glasgow<p>The cast-iron steps up to Great Western Road from South Woodside Road in the West End of Glasgow. These are part of the bridge which carries Great Western Road over the River Kelvin. Designed by Bell and Miller, it was made by the Sir William Arrol Iron and Steel Works and it opened in 1891.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/glasgow" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>glasgow</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/kelvinbridge" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>kelvinbridge</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/bridge" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>bridge</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/ironwork" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ironwork</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/architecture" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>architecture</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/glasgowarchitecture" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>glasgowarchitecture</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/castiron" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>castiron</span></a></p>
This Is My Glasgow<p>1929 Art Deco commercial building on Great Western Road in Glasgow. Designed by James Lindsay, it was originally built as a tearoom with shops on the ground floor. Rather ironically, given that Glasgow tea rooms aimed to provide a space where people could socialise away from the temptations of alcohol, it later became home to the legendary Cleopatra's Night Club, better known to almost everyone as Clatty Pat's.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/glasgow" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>glasgow</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/architecture" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>architecture</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/glasgowbuildings" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>glasgowbuildings</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/artdeco" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>artdeco</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/kelvinbridge" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>kelvinbridge</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/clattypats" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>clattypats</span></a></p>
This Is My Glasgow<p>A group of 1890s structures on the banks of the River Kelvin where it flows through the West End of Glasgow. To the left are the arches of the old Kelvin Bridge Railway Station, opened in 1896. Above this is Caledonian Mansions, James Millar's 1897 Glasgow Style gem, and to the right is Bell and Miller's 1890 Cast Iron Kelvin Bridge.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/glasgow" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>glasgow</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/architecture" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>architecture</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/kelvinbridge" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>kelvinbridge</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/glasgowbuildings" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>glasgowbuildings</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/bridge" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>bridge</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/riverkelvin" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>riverkelvin</span></a></p>

This Is My Glasgow<p>Looking up the River Kelvin through one of the main arches of the Great Western Bridge in Glasgow. Designed by Bell and Miller and opened in 1891, it's primarily built of cast iron. </p><p>It's only from underneath that you can really appreciate the engineeeing which has gone into this bridge and kept it standing for more than 130 years</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/riverkelvin" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>riverkelvin</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/glasgow" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>glasgow</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/bridges" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>bridges</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/glasgowbridges" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>glasgowbridges</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/kelvinwalkway" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>kelvinwalkway</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/greatwesternroad" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>greatwesternroad</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/kelvinbridge" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>kelvinbridge</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/castiron" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>castiron</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/ironwork" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ironwork</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/victorianengineering" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>victorianengineering</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/engineering" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>engineering</span></a></p>
