Hank G ☑️When Dart overtook Kotlin as my favorite language I still missed certain features of Kotlin. One was the incredibly powerful switch statement, called "when", that Kotlin had and being able to use that for assignment. Now that Dart 3 is out I now have the equivalent of that again :). It may be missing a couple of edge case features like "in" comparisons but I have to experiment more to determine that. Hats off Dart and Flutter Team. Matthew Miller :donor:<p>I'm understanding that the latest version of Google Bard uses some new kind of AI model called PaLM v2. How novel is this compared to what's currently powering tools like ChatGPT? How might it compare to LLaMa-based open-source work?</p><p>I think I read recently that a lot of the innovations in the AI space in the last decade or so came out of Google in some shape or form, but other companies productized the technology first. I wonder if Google's success with Bard might be due less to the underlying LLM technology and more to the breadth of other services that Google offers.</p><p>But I also heard they have a slimmer version of the Bard model that can run on mobile, called "Gecko"? That's potentially exciting. </p><p>What a wild time for technology, even if this is all statistical guessing behind the scenes.</p><p><a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/llm" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>llm</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/googleio2023" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>googleio2023</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/googlebard" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>googlebard</span></a></p>
Hadi<p>- you may think companies are not stupid to let <a href="https://androiddev.social/tags/AI" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AI</span></a> exponentially improve its own code, but you don't consider the users of such a recommendation system to create the stupid demand in the first place, and companies by their nature follow the demand, so you cannot blame them if somebody let the <a href="https://androiddev.social/tags/AI" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AI</span></a> have self improvement in the future. Creat demand for robots that clean our house. Hadi<p>- <a href="https://androiddev.social/tags/copilot" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>copilot</span></a> and <a href="https://androiddev.social/tags/androidstudiobot" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>androidstudiobot</span></a> are not helping you because they cannot distinguish fact from fiction, so they just generate a poet out of your code and prompts. In fact, you as the user help them and train them to be more convincing.<br>- using a <a href="https://androiddev.social/tags/AI" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AI</span></a> solution that data leaves the client is dangerous for humanity, your children, your sibling's children, etc. because of the possibility of exponentially improving its own code.<br><a href="https://androiddev.social/tags/io" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>io</span></a> <a href="https://androiddev.social/tags/GoogleIO" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>GoogleIO</span></a> <a href="https://androiddev.social/tags/googleio2023" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>googleio2023</span></a></p>
Hadi<p>There are multiple facts that people totally forgot:<br>- currently the <a href="https://androiddev.social/tags/LLM" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>LLM</span></a> models that humanity trained cannot separate fact from fiction, but they are so good at using our cognitive biases to convince us they can.<br>- training <a href="https://androiddev.social/tags/AI" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AI</span></a> to code, can lead to self improvement of <a href="https://androiddev.social/tags/AI" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AI</span></a> which is an exponential phenomenon that later nobody can stop.<br>- letting <a href="https://androiddev.social/tags/copilot" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>copilot</span></a>, or <a href="https://androiddev.social/tags/androidstudiobot" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>androidstudiobot</span></a> have access to your companies' code is a security issue. Let's wait for the first reviews. </p><p>I think the price is too high in Europe at 680 €.</p><p>Currently I have a <a href="https://androiddev.social/tags/samsung" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>samsung</span></a> <a href="https://androiddev.social/tags/galaxy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>galaxy</span></a> <a href="https://androiddev.social/tags/tab" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>tab</span></a> S5e and it looks thinner and has smaller bezels.
