🎮 Fallout 3 runs perfect on Linux ✅ -- while on Windows 10 🚫 regular crashes are reported.

"The Freedom OS" is a savior for many :linux:

Many ponder a Linux switch -- Google Trends shows a spike for "Linux", "Ubuntu", etc. :thinkhappy:

To add: recent faulty Windows security update (CrowdStrike) took out banks, airlines & big companies worldwide via update *with Linux OS's not impacted*

Progress on the new Steam Deck!

1. Skyrim is now up and running, with Anniversary Edition content installed
2. All my mods from my two current major modded playthroughs are in place and active in Vortex
3. Helper scripts I'd used before to get Vortex onto the thing, and to cleanly swap back and forth between playthroughs, re-installed
4. Custom controller configs I'd set before confirmed to be back in place
5. Morrowind ALSO installed, and its previous save files confirmed access on the cloud; no mods on my Morrowind run, so that's all I need there

Tomorrow I install Oblivion, the small set of mods I was using on it, and also Fallout 3! Stay tuned!

Got Vortex up and running via Lutris on the Bazzite install I did on Potato. So this let me do a few basic mods, mostly the same set of ones I'd used on my first attempt at a modded playthrough on this box, plus a couple more that I discovered later.

Result: I got Skyrim running, but yeaaaaah the performance is _not good_.We're talking 9-15 FPS just wandering around in Whiterun and then outside in the surrounding plains. So NOT an improvement over running Skyrim in Windows 10 on the same box.

What I've learned from this though is that yes I can do a Vortex install on it, and I may get better results from Morrowind and Oblivion. _Maybe_ Fallout 3. We'll see!

In which Kimberly, child of James and Catherine, grows up in Vault 101; and in which she receives an unpleasant surprise when her father mysteriously disappears.

(This being the first post of my Fallout 3 playthrough, which I will document on my blog even though it's mostly an Elder Scrolls blog!)

Anna Plays SkyrimIn Which Kimberly Grows Up in Vault 101In which Kimberly, child of James and Catherine, grows up in Vault 101; and in which she receives an unpleasant surprise when her father mysteriously disappears.

Hey Mastodon gamers! My household has been watching the new Fallout show, and I've had Fallout 3 and New Vegas for a while parked on my Steam Deck... but haven't gotten around to actively playing them. The show is making me want to! And I want to start with 3.

However, given the age of the game, I'm wondering if I should set it up for mods on the Deck similar to my Skyrim. Are there critical bugfix patches I should get as mods right out of the gate? I'm thinking of trying to play as close to vanilla as possible, for my first attempt at playing the game. Recommendations for critical mods welcome!
