Das<p>(oh! this didn't go out Saturday)<br>Absolutely no hassle whatsoever - a lovely conversation at the entry/passport/customs? with the young Black officer, who was so excited when we told him how long we were out &amp; that we homeschool and got to see and make our own soy sauce.<br>Partner and I are back - 8 checkedin suitcases, 2 small carryon suitcases, 3 backpacks, loaner travel guitar, and not to forget, both the kids!<br>This ends our <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/Japan" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Japan</span></a> and <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/DasInKobe" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>DasInKobe</span></a> sabbatical adventure.<br>Thanks for following! 🙏🏽</p>
Das<p>The Kenbishi and Tatsukiri (👆🏽; back row left two bigger bottles in prev) had to get wrapped up to go - finished and enjoyed the others as we cleared out our fridge and apartment.<br>Last night stay in a hotel room closer to the airport for our early morning flight out and this small bottle and tipple - Sakuramasamune <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/Sake" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Sake</span></a> junmai ginjo (60% polish)<br>Quite nice at room temp<br><a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/DasInKobe" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>DasInKobe</span></a></p>
Das<p>Not complaining in the least, did so much on this trip to <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/Japan" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Japan</span></a> , just amused at my (former) self - what was I thinking?! <br>Among the things I didn't get to doing - play <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/TableTennis" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>TableTennis</span></a>. There is a club or something in <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/Kobe" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Kobe</span></a> I flagged on maps but I just didn't go there even though I brought my paddles and shoes. Maybe just as well, as I haven't played since Feb 2020. <br>Paddles will go back, shoes won't - no space. <br><a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/DasInKobe" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>DasInKobe</span></a></p>
Das<p>Partner had indicated a desire to taste fugu, so some sashimi in our apartment a day before we had to leave. Lovely crunchy texture &amp; flavor in these thin slices (with ponzu &amp; a bit of momiji oroshi - grated daikon+chili). The other thick cut skin &amp; cooked pieces were a bit tough more texture than flavor (imo).<br>Dinner of oven grilled miso pickled gindara (misnomer = black cod) - just so terrific! Sweet and charred (from the sugar) and fatty umami delight.<br><a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/Food" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Food</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/Cooking" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Cooking</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/AptCooking" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AptCooking</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/DasInKobe" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>DasInKobe</span></a></p>

Das<p>Been meaning to show you this since we got to the apartment in <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/Japan" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Japan</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/Kitchen" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Kitchen</span></a><br>Now that the fridge is mostly empty you too can enjoy the joy of discovery of this fridge's mechanism. I've seen that you can adjust the hinge so that the <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/fridge" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>fridge</span></a> door can open any (*one*) way, but this was new to me</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/DasInKobe" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>DasInKobe</span></a></p>
Das<p>Natto breakfast, then close out the away office and rushed to wind up bank account and residency, insurance issues at city hall 1pm to past 4pm with terrific help from host admin here 🙏🏽<br>Quick late lunch at 5 pm of takoyaki next to the place I picked up a new suitcase (what we came with is going to be carry on) and thankful to borrow a weighing scale today to aid packing<br>(Yesterday I went to 6 stores for a luggage scale but thawrted) <br><a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/DasInKobe" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>DasInKobe</span></a> penultimate day</p>
Das<p>... and as promised, some harako meshi - parent child bowl if you will, for the kids for late <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/breakfast" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>breakfast</span></a> <br>Nice to be able to pick up just small amounts of ikura </p><p><a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/Food" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Food</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/Cooking" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Cooking</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/DasInKobe" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>DasInKobe</span></a></p>
Das<p>Last 1½ cups of rice and whaddya know I even had top dashi to make salmon rice that the kids had requested one more time before we left. <br>Made it tonight but they'll have to have it reheated - this was the rice cookers last cook here before it gets suitcased</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/Food" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Food</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/Cooking" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Cooking</span></a> <br>Last bit of <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/AptCooking" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AptCooking</span></a> &amp; <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/DasInKobe" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>DasInKobe</span></a></p>
