oh yeah.. i had an idea this morning: like.. do you know how #cohost was kinda different? has anyone coined a term for that yet? how about #slocial ? as in slow social, as opposed to fast social (media)?

another thought was "barely social"... but i didnt dare portmonteauing that one... for reasons... so uh, maybe yet another protocol for social media but for people who dont share much?

there should be a clear anti-ai stance somewhere and i think part of slocial and therefore barely social could be that it's based on a peer to peer net of trust? something something bad idea since i know like 5 people in person... sounds horribly boring... anyway do as you wish with these thoughts... idk gotta go, make dinner...

Question about #Cohost, the most popular social platform no one talks about: now that it's going to die, are the developers going to release the source?

I'm fairly #left leaning but I don't get too political online.

One thing I miss about #cohost is that they didn't report engagement numbers directly. I miss having a post do severals.

I've been here for a bit, almost two weeks actually, but I haven't gotten much engagement or conversation bc I haven't fully gone in on it yet, so this is gonna be my first step at getting out there and making a bunch of connections. I just got an email from Cohost with my data.

Apparently, I forgot that I had signed up for an account when I first left Xitter. I am pretty sure I didn't even post on it once.

Just, very polite of them to reach out with my data even if there's likely very little data to share.

is there a #mastodon client or frontend that doesn't show follower and following counts for users? or the number of retoots a toot has? i liked both of those features on cohost, and i'd like to have them back

on cohost that was clear: nobody really.

i would just put stuff there i thought was worthwhile. not sure if it's the charlimit, or just the different "algorithm" (on cohost there literally was none, here? idk who half of the people are that pop up in my timeline, idk either is better, but this right here feels off)

Got my #cohost export and speaking as a non-webmaker user, this feels like I have been handed a technically complex object with the assumption that I'll know what to plug it into in order to make it work. :S
