This Is My Glasgow<p>I love the way glazed bricks have been used to add decorative elements to the facade of this section of a Victorian weaving factory on French Street in the Dalmarnock area of Glasgow. It's small features like this which really help to make buildings stand out, but that are all too often missing from modern buildings.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/glasgow" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>glasgow</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/dalmarnock" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>dalmarnock</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/industrialarchitecture" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>industrialarchitecture</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/architecture" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>architecture</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/architecturephotography" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>architecturephotography</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/weaving" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>weaving</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/industrialheritage" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>industrialheritage</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/modernarchitecture" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>modernarchitecture</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/brick" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>brick</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/brickwork" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>brickwork</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/bricks" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>bricks</span></a></p>
This Is My Glasgow<p>I love the shapes on this polychromatic brick former industrial building on Moncur Street in Glasgow, especially the pediments at the top. Designed by M. Forsyth and built in the 1870s, it was originally part of the William Whyte's and Son clay pipe works, which had been based on the neighbouring Gibson Street since 1824.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/glasgow" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>glasgow</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/thebarras" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>thebarras</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/architecture" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>architecture</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/architecturephotography" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>architecturephotography</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/brickwork" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>brickwork</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/polychromaticbrick" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>polychromaticbrick</span></a></p>

This Is My Glasgow<p>A ghost building on Robertson Street in Glasgow. I love all the different phases visible in the stone and brickwork, especially the window at the top right which is made from blonde sandstone and then has been half filled with red bricks and half with concrete blocks, presumably at different times. This effect may have taken between 100 and 150 years to create.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/glasgow" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>glasgow</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/ghostbuilding" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ghostbuilding</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/stonework" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>stonework</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/brickwork" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>brickwork</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/glasgowhistory" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>glasgowhistory</span></a></p>
This Is My Glasgow<p>I'll admit this is geeky, even for me, but I love this bit of brickwork I came across the other day in the Garnethill area of Glasgow. It's a glazed brick wall with a curved corner transitioning to a sharp right-angle mid-way through a single brick. The transition happens just above head height and my guess is that the lower curved profile is designed to reduce the risk of damage to the lower section by passing carts and other vehicles.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/glasgow" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>glasgow</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/architecture" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>architecture</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/brickwork" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>brickwork</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/brick" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>brick</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/bricks" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>bricks</span></a></p>
