Wintermute_BBS<p>today has been the first time in roughly a decade that I've installed <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/GNOME" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>GNOME</span></a> which I did to test how well it works with <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/Wayland" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Wayland</span></a> on my setup. And although it's quite a different and very new experience for me as a long time <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/Xfce4" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Xfce4</span></a> user, I think it's not as bad as I thought ... it feels less loaded then (dare I say it?!) Plasma, for example. Of course, this is just my humble opinion.</p><p>As for Wayland, it just works with my <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/RX580" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RX580</span></a> which is very good to know.</p><p>Oh, and speaking of Xfce4 - I tried that with Wayland as well and it works, but there are still a few things left to be done, e.g. the mouse and keyobard setup didn't work (no setup dialog showed up) and there was no desktop background being shown, despite having selected a default image.</p>
